just browsed the Southend Shrimperzone Forum on a thread relating to player ratings v Rotherham yesterday.

One guy gives Leonard a 5 and comments, "can't count the number of misplaced passes from Lenny today"

and another guy gives him a 4 and comments, "didn't really do anything today".

Those were the only two threads I could read before it cut me off!

I actually don't think a bid is on the table at the moment(?) - nothing's been said on this for a while now from either party. Unless we make contact again with Southend or Ron calls up Wilder with his tail between his legs - I think this one is over for now. All Southend will get is half-arsed performances from the lad until January time.

If there is c£2m to spend on coady perhaps we are looking a level up from Leonard now - with the option of picking him up cheaply in jan perhaps.

I'd be tempted given how slow this has been to just see how whiteman gets on until Jan and perhaps see if someone of a higher calibre could be brought in - in the coady, Irvine Mold.

There's every chance whiteman could do just as well / prove as effective as Leonard imo.

I totally agree. I think Whiteman, with a whole season of league one football, and younger than Leonard too, may well be able to step up next season. In the meantime we need some proven quality and Coady is that. I don't think for a minute we'll get him, despite what the Star says unless Coady is unhappy there. They've won the first two games and Coady played both and is the Captain?! I just don't see that happening. I'm not sure we can improve on Coutts and Fleck to be fair they are two of the best players in the team. If Coady joined he'd probably play centre back given that's where he has played recently for Wolves and we do need another centre half. Leonard would probably just be an impact player.

He can't leave for nothing in January but can sign a pre contract which apparently aren't binding.
