CONFIRMED Ryan Leonard

I think Leonard would be a good signing from what little I've seen ..a box to box goalscoring midfielder, and strikes me as being very similar to our own Ben Whiteman, but 4 years older and slightly more experienced...Maybe we could send BW the other way to Southend on a season long loan...I say loan as I'd like to hang on to the lad.

Whiteman will go locally, think Wilder confirmed he will be off to Donny. Always prefer kids to stay local let them remain in the area that way the club can keep any eye on their welfare as well as the loaning club

Improved bid rejected apparently. Millwall & another also in for him so says the local reporter for Southend

Exchange deal will be Millwall offering cash plus David Worrall IMO.

Been there, done that with Worrell, no thank you. He didn't exactly leave on the best of terms with the club when he went to Millwall and I can't see Phil Brown welcoming him back. I would be interested to know how much your man offered as a revised bid if any of you are in the know. As for the other rumour above, Chris Phillips (Echo reporter) is usually pretty much clued in on transfers, so because he hasn't mentioned a successful third bid from you, I suspect it hasn't happened (yet).

Chris Philips is the Sports reporter for the Southend local paper, he's their equivilent of James Sheild.
So you can bet he's probably the best source for any news on this deal.
So reckon the EFLinsider tweet is wrong.

Like all local hacks, and all ITK merchants, the information he gets may well be out of date by the time he gets it... managers and chairmen have mobile phones these days.

I can't speak for other journalists, but mostly, Chris Phillips is up to date with his information. Whether you choose to believe what he posts is of course your shout.

No he isn't. None of them are. Things change rapidly. With respect, I was informing you of a global reality, not engaging in debate about your particular local hack nonentity.

I often find that when somebody offers up the 'with respect' quote, the opposite is true. But thanks anyway for the update on global reality.

I was trying to be polite. The truth is I know a good deal more about the media than you. Listen and learn.

That's all well and good but when I hear "I've not had it confirmed" that sounds like it was a dream, or his mate told him in the pub and he's not spoke to anyone of significance about it yet.

Not sure getting out bid for a player by Millwall would be good or bad.

Bad... cos they got a decent player and we didn't

Good... cos they paid over the odds for a player that might not get in out first team and means they've got less spending power elsewhere

We wouldn't have bid if Wilder didn't think he would get in our first team. If we get outbid by the likes of Millwall and their 9k crowds then it would suggest the talk of improved backing from the Board Is wide of the mark.

You could have said that about Carruthers... but he doesn't start. He's not a shoe in is he. We had the best midfield by a mile last year in League 1. Who does he drop, Coutts, Fleck or Duffy?

Football's a squad game now

It's all rumour at present but the player might prefer to stay in the south ,wilder wants players who want to play for us .
If he chooses mill wall then we move on as wider would say.Why do posters have to make a thing about money,if money drives a player (obviously comes Into the equation ) then wilder walks away ,best policy.

If We get outbid over what we are prepared to pay it suggests nothing about the boards backing at all. It does suggest Millwall will have paid more than Wilder and the transfer committee believes he is worth.
At the end of the day, this lad will have the option of staying down south with Millwall, and regardless of what we do that to him could form a big part of his decision process.

He's from Plymouth which is down Cornwall way. So staying down south might not be that much of a big thing to him as it doesn't matter if he's in Southend, Millwall or Sheffield it's still a long drive.

Pinchy, show some respect, you come across sometimes as being so up yourself!

I am showing a great deal of both patience and respect to someone who doesn't understand but refuses to learn. It's a frustrating combination.

Dont worry about him.
Pinchy is VERY big on respecting Pinchy.
He believes he is infallible in all matters football.
We all try to help him, but like all his sort, he's in absolute denial ;)

Tufty has made it perfectly and repeatedly clear that he is happy with the backing he has from the board. He has made it even more clear as recently as his last RS interview (all 12 minutes are there on the FH website) that it is his policy to pay what he thinks a player is worth and no more.

Appreciate he may be from Cornwall, but he's currently settled there now having lived there since he was 18/19 and from 2011.
He's probably got a bird...bought a property.....whereas for Millwall he could still commute in, though granted it would be a chore every day.
