Is he actually a real player? Has he actually played football? Or is it someone we have made up to make it look like we have a bigger squad.

Well, if true, whoever sanctioned it wants shooting.

Surely he can't have even been on that much money while at Hull?

Did we really need to offer him 7k to stop him from signing for Wednesday?

I've been assured by someone I believe that it's £7k. That number keeps cropping up. That's £6K per week more than he's worth. You could weep. Then again, what value he is against Ched's £20K.....:(

I suppose when you look at the awful signings we've made to rack up an at one time almost £20M wagebill, there's no wonder we're no proceeding with caution on the signing front. Trouble is, it's now more than ever that we need to spend.

Haha £7k! Not a chance he's on that. Our directors wont pay that for good players never mind squad players. I dont at all intend to discredit any of the ITK'ers on here but I wont believe that until I see it in writing.

Not long ago our wagebill was approaching £20M. Think of the players we had and think how you get to £400,000 per week. We've paid some real average players some real world class salaries. I believe the £7K figure.

Wasn't this the same Ryan France we didn't sign due to fitness / injury?

No, it's the same Ryan France who wanted £6.5K per week more than your budget could stand.

From a wednesayite I knew who knows Ryan it was purely just us swooping in and offering him a better deal.

In hindsight we should of not bothered swooping in at all.

I always find it amusing when Blades fans talk wages. Many seem to think we should just be poaching player X, Y and Z and paying the going rate... Others when faced with our players actual wages think we've been mugs and pay out far too much. We can't have it both ways!

When you have to shell out amounts like the £16k a week in Davies' wages for the duration of his loan, is it any wonder we don't sign many of the players fans think we should?

I agree with your sentiment foxy - but cut and carve it however you want, our wage-bill over the last few years suggests we've got nothing like value for money, even by football's standards. You could give us a laugh and justify Ryan France drawing any sort of a wage, let alone £7k per week. And rest assured when McCabe tells us we've made Evans one of the highest paid players outside the premiership, we've clearly had our pants removed ten times over.

The thing is, it's all relative. We've also tried to play hardball in some ways compared with a number of teams, sometimes to our detriment when it comes to securing signings.

Think of the wasters certain other teams in the region are still paying for!

I shudder to think how many average footballers there are out there who spend the week dossing around, a few hours of training then picking up a wage that dwarfs the amount we're talking for Ryan France.

Aye, there'll be plenty of them. But I bet pound for pound there are few poorer footballers than Ryan France, or Ched Evans for that matter.

I'll take that as vindication, to be fair Ryan couldn't believe it either.
