Yep, this is what it’s going to take for us to move to the next level. Develop / invest in youngsters, bring them into the first team and sell whenever someone bids our target fee. Rinse and repeat. It’s always a bit disappointing to lose an exciting youngster but we should get used to it as it’s what will move us forward. We should also be confident - our youth scouting and academy are clearly top class and have proven so over decades now.
You’ll win some and lose some but overall you’ll move forward.
The trick is of course to get top dollar for the potential (which we have done recently). I also think once in a while you have to break your own rules and take a chance on someone you think could be really special by rejecting a couple of big bids and keeping them for an extra year or two. Blaster falls into this category for me. Osula, Jebbo and One don’t. That’s not to say they definitely wont go on to be great players, it’s just a risk/reward thing and I have more confidence in Blaster.
