Outgoing? Ryan Óne

Oné is a big specimen for his age.

But I can’t be the only one who feels he’s been way off the level for the Championship.

Whenever him or Brewster comes on it’s like playing with ten men most of the time.

It’s very difficult to say what he will or won’t be. The goal will have done him some good, but given a decent window I’m sure Wilder would have him nowhere near the first team.
I agree and have thought the same with One. He does show some great flashes of skills and strength which bodes well for the future, however his lack of awareness/inexperience leaves us lacking options when in possession.
On Saturday Hamer was telling him when and where to run at one point and he still didn't do it. I can see a player in there, but don't think it will blossom for a min of a couple of seasons.

Ignoring that the idea of "purchase one" would require us to obliterate our transfer record for one minute (and most people here would balk at that concept as spending munneh is not Sheffield United and/or people are still traumatised at what happened the last time we tried to buy one), would I reject that? I've not seen enough of him yet to make a firm conclusion of his potential upside, but continuing our current approach which is akin to identifying a profitable accumulator and then cashing out after the half twelve game for fear of losing the couple of quid appreciation, is a bad long term plan. If you sell for £10m, you'd better be pretty fucking sure that the percentage of the time he turns into a £50m striker is extremely low

Fair enough, different perspective and each to their own. I’ll still disagree 😂

Although Obliterate our transfer record for 10 PL goals? We aren’t talking 20 goals…

McG scored 8 in his last season didn’t he? He was pretty cheap if memory serves… Even McBurnie got 6!
Chris Wood currently tearing it up cost Forest £15m, pretty sure Pukki bagged 11 one season for Norwich I’m sure there are plenty of examples to good recruitment.

I’d also argue the exact opposite for a club like ours it’s dreadful business to gamble £10m on the small chance a player becomes a £50m player. £10m is a huge sum of money and could bring in a few top end championship players.

I’m also not advocating selling for Peanuts, just that every player has a price. If we were talking a couple of mill I’d gladly reject. Big clubs can afford to gamble £10m on unproven potential, clubs like ours it’s a different story.

Apart from being a big lad, don’t see anything in One to suggest anything other than an extremely low chance of being a top tier player.

The truth is we don’t know what kind of player he’ll turn out to be. So far I haven’t seen anything from One (in the first team) that makes me think he’s better than, say, Jebbison. But he’s only young and has great physical assets that a club with money to burn would be completely right to take a chance on.

We’re not in that position, we have to trade to keep moving forward. Last summer we got burrows, cooper and o’hare (sign on) for the price of Osula. Irrespective of how good Osula turns out to be in 5 years, that’s great business for us right now. They’ve all got potential themselves and I’d suggest that even if we sold those three right away, we’d get 20m+.

If we get good offers for your young players then we should sell and trade. But you have to get the right price. I’d say selling One, Peck or Osula for 10m is the right price to trade off for potential. Arblaster is one I’d gamble on for another season or two unless someone comes in with 25+ mil because the think he’s much closer to achieving his potential with us.

The mindset of ‘don’t sell the Crown Jewels’ only applies if the cash gets pulled out of the club. If it’s used to recruit other high-potential players that can also add value to the current first team squad then it’s 100% the right strategy.

We are good at comparing our players and former players in purely football terms - what we see on the pitch. However we also need to consider other attributes & traits, which is more difficult because we don't see them behind the scenes. Some players are coachable, others aren't - they can't adapt and learn. Some players have a great attitude and desire to win, I'd suggest Peck as a great example. Some players want to play and some are quite happy to take the money and sit on the bench. some players think they are better than they are, others want to prove how good they are. I would suggest we got the money for Osula because Newcastle thought they were getting good football potential plus the positive traits which would lead to further development. I am unsure what Bournemouth got with Jebbison.

FWIW: I'd sell Oné for a decent sum just to avoid having to see our fans' attempts to put the accent in the correct place. It's on the e (making é) and if you're using a full keyboard it can be achieved holding the 'alt gr' key at the same time as pressing the E key.

Any deal with the scouse scumbags should have a ‘tax’ of £30m added to cover the mental and financial trauma of Brewster and Woodburn.
Any deal with Liverpool should have an additional £30m to cover the fact that they're insufferable, entitled cunts.

Talking of a lack of experience: there was a stage in the first half where Oné picked up the ball on the left wing. He held onto it well despite having two Watford players all over him and then eshewed the easy pass to Burrows in favour of a cross-field through ball to their striker. Fortunately nothing came of it.

I'm sorry but if this is true then this should highlight to anyone and everyone that our academy is fucking stellar and needs all the investment it can get
Hamiltons is pretty decent too

Aye
& the word I’m assuming you’re intending to utilise “can be achieved” by pressing the following keys in sequence:-
e
s
c
h
e
w
e
d
😉

I actually thought he looked okay when he came on at Sunderland
Or saying the lad isn’t game. But there is a big drop off on standard. That’s what we need to address in the window, so we can make changes and rotate players without weakening the team.

We’ve done remarkably well to be within one point (arguably to have accumulated more points than anyone on the field) with so little in reserve outside of the first XI.

Questionable source (I've no idea who this guy is) but I've seen Oné linked with RUFC on loan a few times in the last few days.

We have to be careful that Ryan is not a closet Scouser, or else we could end up with another RamsArse situation. Liverpool may well be a set of thieving corrupt hounds, in a hovel of a town, but for a non blade they are currently a great opportunity. Who are quite likely going to win the PL and CL this season.
Denying youngsters the opportunity to be the next Kyle could damage our reputation for future recruitment.

Realistically would he go there and start? He might as well sit on our bench instead of Rovrum / Barnsley's

Possibly?

But if we sign Cannon, with Moore, Campbell and Brewster fit, he won't be close to our bench.

Agree.
Barnsley are going for promotion, so Oné would be far from guaranteed the game time (as we saw with Osula's loan to Derby).

Would prefer Rotherham. Nicer club and less pressure.

Hopefully goes to a team that creates. I think One is already better than Brewster so I would keep Brewster as an emergency player and let One get the experience and hopefully goals.

Was gonna say same. Rotherham don't create all that much.

Just about everytime we've played One he's been up top alone. Last season he expelled at development level because he played with Marsh. Marsh did the Didsy work, One did the finishing. The two had a great partnership and understanding, not that Marsh wasn't scoring often himself.

Give over. One better than Brewster, that's some take. One has bags of potential but come on, and I know Brewster has vastly under achieved etc, but he is far the better option right now.

I wouldn't want any of our younger players anywhere near a side managed by Steve Evans. North Barnsley surely the better option.
Toughen them up. It’s more about getting game time against players in and around his level. At the moment he can come up against a Souttar for example where you don’t learn anything other than he’s really good. Need to learn your trade slowly and gain experience so when you come up against a Souttar he’s more well equipped for the challenge.

A LG1 / LG2 loan would be great but one where he plays is the most important.

What did he get expelled for, carrying a blade.😉

Disagree I have been impressed with One. Brewster did well last night, fair play but he has very little attributes compared to One. Like I said though I'd rather keep Brewster as 4th/5th choice than One as we need to develop One. Brewster is finished with us at the end of the season.

Monaco, eh?

Send George Ilenikhena the other way and we might have a deal.
