another one you've missed...
6) No signing on transfer deadline day means we are a shit unambitious club. However, all transfer deadline day signings are desperate panic buys by a shit unambitious club.

Not if the players reflect the supposed 'ambition' to get promoted. I'd take three decent acquisitions at five to eleven over twelve "for fuck's sake's" spread out over a disappointing opportunity window

Oh, no, no, no, no!

The board are more than happy. Fat profit made on residual talent (and it was basically the last drips shaken from the cock of ability United ever had) a few loanees and nobodies signed for fuck all and some ready cash to reduce the debt burden mounted by hiring and sacking endless disillusioned managers.

As predicted

You said the money had been divvied up earlier today.

Nobodies. Right. Presumably you wrote Deane off as a nobody then?

Can we seriously be aligning the situation under Bassett in the late 80s with us today under Wilder? The whole footballing landscape is different, Sean. Please.

It's not a comparison with then. You described these players as nobodies. I've picked out a signing of a player most of us were unaware of. Nobody? Or not?

I'm aligning the ability of Harry Bassett to spot and sign talent for a song (regardless of 'nobody') and for Deane to go straight in and make an impact. The whole game was different then as was the team around Deane (and Agana) and the opposition. We were clearly well above everyone else and his supply routes were equally as prolific. This lot? Can you really guarantee we have a 'Deane' in there?

Yes, that's what I said, I guarantee there's a Deane in there.

Not the best swerve you've ever done. What do you know about these players? Let's start there.

Probably as much as you do. And as much as I did Hammond, Sammon and the rest of the fuck ups and failures we have signed as placeboes. So the signing three players who haven't exactly torn up any trees in the last three years fills you with confidence, yeah? I mean, even the people we sold in the past few days were capable, if not prolific. What makes you so confident this lot are about to make any kind of difference? Their stats don't show much. There's no collective howling fro the clubs they left, in fact mostly it's 'meh'.

So nothing then. Same as me. Now Deane, what did you know about him? Can you recall your comments on Basset signing him, as a virtual unknown from Donny, while we were, err, in the third division, after relegation?

Nothing makes me think anything about them because as I keep saying I know nothing about them and haven't seem them play. But unlike you I'm not writing them off without seeing them, and no matter how much you try to pretend I do, I haven't made any positive claims for them either.

Is anybody keeping a tally of what we got in in hard cash, what we saved in outgoings and what we expended on players brought in? If we all work really really hard we can have an idea what transfer kitty SHOULD be available in January subject to the Pompey theory that it will be trousered by McCabe and there will be nothing left.

For my part, having seen a fair few average players depart, also a fair few high earners depart or paid off and a substantial addition to the coffers by way of sales, I will be fascinated to see how much gets spent in January. Will I be a Pompey slasher or a Silent clapper? I regret to say I feel a stompy pompy coming on.

I am sure won't be breaking any FFP rules anytime soon.

I would guess it has been a great transfer window for McCabe.

There was no howling from Donny either ,and bassett signed his fair share of fuck ups and failures.

No. But I trust the abilities of Harry Bassett far more to assemble a team than I do Wilder. Not Wilder's fault. He is limited by what he can achieve ad acquire and my point is this: a marque signing or two in 2016-17 as a result of redirected investment is far more effective than it was in 1988-89.

I knew nothing of Deane back then (as I doubt did you). We'll speak again if Lavary whacks a brace in on Sunday and has the return which BD had in his first term at BDTBL and I will admit how wrong I was to criticise. But I will want 20+ goals out of him, because that is how far in theshit we are already thanks to great signings, selling players and shit stewardship

Hmmm. But, despite a very short setback, we ended up moving in the right direction.

Can you say the same today? I mean, seven setbacks is a bit long, ne c'est pas?

Nope I didn't. Like you input my hopes on Basset. Same as I'm still doing on Wilder after 5 league games. In any event the point wasn't about ability it was about writing off players we know nothing about.
If Lavery or any of them look like doing really well I'm not going to come back as if I said they'd be good because I haven't and anyway people pick up on bs like that quite easily. What I'm saying is let's see.
If they do turn out to be poor, are you going to claim be correct after making a judgement on players you've admitted to knowing nothing about?

No. What I will continue is my campaign to suggest people see some sort of truth in the decay of this club and do something - anything - about it. Sustaining McCabe on his seemingly boundless campaign to wreck Sheffield United with season after season of depleting capability is not the way and we should all be honest in our awareness about this, because seven seasons at this level isn't good enough.

Basically tonight has gone as predicted. The no signings mob have been proved wrong. Those suggesting various players are angry because we've signed none of their forecasts while just a few others have posted what they posted yesterday, the day before, last weekend, last week last year etc etc etc.

it's almost as sad a state of affairs as the board, basically impotence and ignorance plus anger.

I'm happy to be proved wrong with our two loan signings. Time will tell if they are any good and if not reinvesting the Adams money along with the DCL cash was a mistake.

I offer a discussion you offer insults and nothing else ,never answer a question ,complete waste of time , that's me done.
Can I come with you sitwell

What gets my back up more than anything is the petty name calling of the chairman by childish posters throwing their toys around.

My dad brought me up to have respect for others, and others points of view.

Whatever happened to respect?

I'm far more concerned about the state of the world than I am the state of United.
