Just been on that QPR have bid 750k for Kenny and a clause in his contract allows him to talk to them. If he goes after all the support we gave him that will be shocking.

If this is true then it won't just be the normal knockers that will kick off!

Radio sheffield are normally on the ball as it tends to come straight from united, i won't be happy even if he just talks them.

Paddy wont go. If he has anything about him and I suspect he does - he will stay with the club that have stood by him. Dont panic, he will stay.

I will be happy once Paddy comes out and says thanks but no thanks. Just something tells me that, all that's gone on with him over the last 3 or 4 years, Personal life, Drug ban etc he might just fancy moving away.

Not to mention the lure of a massive wage.

I've got a feeling that Paddy is on a very low wage, hence the agreement of 750k clause.

I'll be very sad to see him go :(

Me too Hotto, another of the invisible bonds gets broken. When I think of all the great moments in the last ten years, his George Daws beaming face has been present at all of them. If we got Simonsen in and were a little bit up on the deal it would be a nice cushion but I've every confidence we'll end up with some shite dressed up as the next Gordon Banks instead. On loan.

Another slice of incompetence from the pizza that is Sheffield United Football Club.

750k?? Are we really that skint? Wednesday reckon Grant is worth 3m, then I'm pretty sure Paddy is worth 4m!

As someone mentioned above - its a release clause. He obviously has a 750k trigger in his contract so if thats the case there is nothing we can do but hope Paddy chooses to stay.

I suppose the fact that Paddy has a 750k release clause in a one year contract kind of suggests that he's not all that attached to us....

.....or us to him?

Damn and blast those agents. Again.

Monty, Paddy........is this the final end of the class of '03 ?

Disappointed to see Paddy go and as others have said, if his 'new deal' last year includes release clauses and a seemingly low fee then maybe we haven't shown him as much loyalty as has been suggested. I'll still be amazed if QPR don't end up with Speroni.

heard that Paddy isn't happy that Leaning was let go as goalkeeper coach at the same time have heard Bogdanovic isn't wanted by Blackwell and the deal hass been done by Birch ?

Again, I don't think the release clause would have been our idea. What good would that have done us to not be able to dictate any fee? It wouldn't be difficult for us to circulate his name for 750k rather than be restricted by such a clause.

More excuses for Blackwell and more ammunition for his merry band of supporters.

We could have sacked Paddy obviously, in which case he'd be walking away free to QPR.

We paid him circa £6k a week which sounds incredible but maybe he would only sign that with a release clause. I know that sounds unbelieveable given what happened but maybe he (agent) said to SUFC 'if you sack me you'll get nowt, if you pay me circa £300k I'll sign on basis that I can go next summer if you get £750k for me.' Paddy makes £300k and we make £450k.

Not standing up for the club at all and now that Warnock is in charge of QPR the £750k seems very low but we all know how skint we are and maybe this is the best we could do. Yet again we lose a top quality CCC player and it's all very depressing.

'kin ell, I agree with Micalijo.

As raul says, it's the agents. We can't cope with the agents.

Seriously, if ever a club ad leverage over a player in contract negotiations, it was us when we renewed Kenny's deal. Why the hell did they give him a release clause? It defies sense.

Why did we have leverage? What's to stop him saying "I serve my ban, I'm then a free agent with all the benefits that brings"?

Just because he was serving a ban, doesn't mean no one would pick him up on a hefty wages as backup or a chance of redemption.

If Lee Hughes can command good wages after getting out of clink (and no doubt Marlon King too), then Paddy who kept himself fit and was never injured in his time off would easily get a club and good contract.

Micalijo 1 - Rev 0

Probably right Mic (apart from the surprise surprise Blackwell comment !), we don't know what was agreed or not agreed this time last year when the sh1t hit the fan. At the end of the day, if we make close to 500K for a player who has just come back from a drugs ban, who could have been a free agent then maybe we've come out of it as well as we could have done.

Or, to put it another way, it would as per usual be a "good deal for the club" and a bad one for the team.

Be sorry to see him go. I can't help but feel that it's a bit shabby on his part if he leaves after the club stood by him. However, I'm assuming that he's got a choice about leaving.

Had we have sacked him, he wouldn't have gone anywhere because he was banned for a year. The list of clubs prepared to pay someone for a year before getting any work out of them is presumably very small. QPR were also at least 83 managers away from Warnock anyway.
