Jags was cover for Egan last year. Jags is gone.

So our senior CBs are currently: Egan, Robinson, Bash. If we bring in Davies then we have 4.

That's it. Assuming we're playing a 3 and you're relying on Stevens or Baldock to cover. They've shown nothing to demonstrate they can do this well.

Wanting a good squad for a team which has declared they're going for promotion is surely a necessity?

It was more the midfielder.....another centre back......

We've kept everyone so far, and we'll set up far more offensively this year and create a lot more especially from the likes of Fleck and Berge.
If we now secure CV and Davies that's already a pretty strong squad especially as you missed Freeman off your creative list and I actually think they will create a fair bit at this level. If we then get one of the Manc kids, as well I think it's genuinely one of the best windows we've had. TM Chrissy Wilder.
Of course late sales would impact that, but if those rumoured are announced were in a great position.

im not sure freeman will be with us much longer bob can see him being moved on and 1 or maybe 2 if berge is sold from garner doyle or elliott to come in

Yeah, so if we lose we need to bring in, but given all the bad news stories circulating around CW leaving, that we're going to have a fire sale and no money, we're certainly nowhere near that place. We're looking like having one of the strongest squads in the league, even among those team relegated.

If you work on the assumption that you need at least 2 good players in every position, I think the squad would still be light.

GK: Ramsdale (Verrips, Foderingham)
RB: Bogle / Baldock
RCB: Egan (Basham)
LCB: B Davies* (J Robinson)
LB: Norrington-Davies / Stevens (Lowe)
RM: Berge
CM: Norwood / Vieira*
LM: Fleck (Osborn / L Freeman)
FWD: McGoldrick / Sharp /Brewster / Burke / McBurnie / Mousset.

Would still be light by a couple in midfield & I'd feel a lot more comfortable with at least one more central defender too.

I reckon Lopata will be the 5th/cover CB mate. Looks like he is ready for the step up to me, assuming game time would be limited.

Given EFL’s recent ‘track record’ I reckon we’d be starting our our 2nd (return) season in Prem afore they even noticed - let alone did owt about it

All those U21 don't have to be listed.
Baldock and Stevens have played CB in the Prem and Gordon was on the bench a few times. Hopefully one of Gordon, Lopata, Gomis and Belehouan will progress to fill in.
In midfield you missed out Slater, plus Maguire and Brunt have been on the bench in the Prem. Bogle could play further forward and interestingly Burke was going to play there in Spain before having to isolate. Didsy could also play deeper.

Defensively though Bash can cover Egan & Robinson would cover Davies. I think they'll be happy with that.

If Basham is indeed to be Egan's cover, I'll won't be able to bare watching him going into any tackles for fear of him getting injured. I'd go as far as saying that if is indeed the case, it will cost Utd promotion should Egan be missing for a significant number of games.

As much as love Basham, he's not a CB (nor a CDM as some others on here seem to think)

Agree, I'm just not sure we've got the transfer budget for Davies & another...I'm also not sure who we'd sign as a backup to Egan. Get Jags back 😂
