Thought all journalists were that way inclined, he certainly was a few years ago, but whatever his political persuasions are now.. he's still a fucking ignorant twat!!!!
'In January 2010, the press drew attention to allegedly racist and misogynist comments posted under the username "monkeymfc"—a name Liddle has used—on Millwall Online, a fan club web forum with no official connection to Millwall Football Club. Liddle at first attributed some of the comments to opposition fans logging in under his name to embarrass him. He later admitted he had written some of the posts that were being criticised, including one in support of the BNP excluding Black and Asian people from the party.[47] Another post, in which he joked about not being able to smoke at Auschwitz,[48] led to his being asked to explain what he meant in The Jewish Chronicle.'

I’m from what I always used to think of the most Midlandish of Midlands places. And frankly the debate there was always whether you were East or West Midlands, rather than in the Midlands itself. It shouldn’t even need to be stated that Sheffield is not in the Midlands – nobody in it, or in the immediate are surround it, would suggest such a thing.

For the record, I never considered Chesterfield to be in it either. I don’t think the border into the North aligns with the Derbyshire border, and I don’t consider it just a straight line across the country:
Lincoln: East Midlands
Stoke: West Midlands
Anything above Alfreton in Derbyshire: North

Liddle was brought up in Middlesboro, so to them we kinda are down in the midlands.

Chesterfield is in North East Derbyshire and classed as the Midands. Sheffield is in South Yorkshire and classes as the north.

However just pass Meadowhead roundabout heading dow towards Dronfield is where the North becomes the Midlands.

Sheffield is officially one of the most southerly places in the North.
You can sod off with that statement, I live in Dronfield Woodhouse and as far as I’m concerned it’s in the north.
Dronfield on the other hand.........

Did you go to away matches in Branson's coaches organised by the SUSC Dronfield branch in the early 1970s?

Since when has anyone given a fuck what he thinks, says or does?

Rod Liddle everybody...

The man is an absolute clown. He’s on a different planet to the rest of us.

How old does he think secondary school children are?!

Even if you get past the noncing aspect of it and let’s assume he’s referring to an 18 year old college student/sixth former - in what world would that be even remotely reasonable or acceptable!?

Absolute joker him.

He explicitly says he "wouldn't have gone much younger than year 10."
14/15 year olds.

Very weird.

Slightly weirder to say that looking at child pornography should be fine, and that it is not exploitative of the children. Despicable human being.

How was any of that even allowed to be printed!?
How the hell does he think these images and videos are created if not by abuse and exploitation?

On Newsnight last night, he stoutly defended The Sun and said that the paper had behaved "impeccably" throughout this episode, although he may not be the most impartial observer, what with being a Sun columnist.

I for one am very glad we've got Bertrand Russell's opinion on the whole affair.

His job is to be spikey, controversial, enrage some people and puncture a few up-their-own-arse egos. Someone has to do it, and he does it very well. A lot of what he says is tongue-in-cheek, and should be viewed as such. His column in The Sunday Times is very funny (without always being impeccably researched), as is Camila Long's and Jeremy Clarkson's (cue pelters coming my way). He manages to be a 'celebrity' while supporting both Middlesboro and Millwall instead of Chelsea or Man Utd, which gets him kudos in my book.
....and are people really enraged that he thinks Sheffield is Midlands rather than North? Our railway station is called Midland and is run by East Midlands trains, parts of our region have water supplied by Severn Trent Water, before privatisation gas in our area our area was supplied by East Midlands Gas (EMGAS).
Hangable offences I guess....

Didn't he assault his pregnant partner at one point who he cut his honeymoon with his wife short for to be with? seems like he's got some great morals
