The price tag was reasonable for the division, by that I mean ordinary (lineker said cheap) maybe we need to adjust our expectations a little..

Of course he's feeling the pressure. Both he and McB have gone from heros playing in a system that suits them.

Robbo is a winger or inside forward as part of a 3 up top. He's not used to playing as part of a 2. Thats why he looks like a fish out of water.

Wilder will know all this, he maybe stubborn but will have good reasons to play him there.

What makes you think he’s being stubborn? Perhaps he actually disagrees with what you think. Perhaps he feels that after four promotions he’s got the edge over people who’ve never actually managed a professional football team. Maybe he’s got this idea that the players will only improve by actually playing.

Was interesting watching Fleck after Wilders midweek comments saying he needed to chip in with more goals from midfield.
Actually think it had a negative impact on his game as on a few occasions he just ended up running into a brick wall

He certainly needs to add goals to his game, that late run into the box would be ideal. That’s what’s let’s him down compared to someone like John McGinn or Tom Cairney

Gallagher? Ex-Blade of course. Sweet left foot but right foot tasted as sour as vinegar apparently! He didn’t feed many folks here. Interesting to hear that he fed Robinson though whilst at Preston. Was it breast or bottle?

It seems to me that we're having put a lot more effort into defending this year. This is probably a wise move given the superior talents of premier league attackers. A result of this, it seems to me, is that we are not getting strikers into the box anywhere near as much as we were. As a result all our attackers are getting far less chances to score, or they tend to be further out when they get a shot. Maybe we'll get a bit more adventurous as the season progresses, but as things stand we're doing better than the other Villa and Naarwich. One point behind Manure- we shouldn't be complaining. Let's just give the lads a bit of time and trust in the Wilderbeast.

For me the problem i’m seeing is the style we play, we seem to going down the Warnock/Basset style of getting as many crosses into the box as possible mainly via the wings/wingbacks or deadball situations “hoofball” is creeping into our style of play, we simply haven’t got the type of players to get on the end of those crosses and i personally don’t want to go back to those days, as exciting as they were coming up through the leagues from the old division four. I hope i’m wrong because going forward the Prince might get itchy fingers if we are in the bottom three by Christmas.

Whilst I don't agree entirely with your comparisons , I think you make a very good point in respect of the difference in the style of our play .

An intrinsic part of the style which got us to where are now was that of WORKING the ball into dangerous areas rather than just slinging it in from wide areas , as we did at Watford and in other matches to little or no effect .

My fear is that the longer we try to persevere without a creative link between attack and defence , the more we will miss the opportunities to take all three points off the teams we need to be beating in order to ensure our survival .

For me Robbo would be better as a wide forward. His best moment for us so far I'd say was second half against Chelsea when him and Moose were there pressing their full backs and putting in some good balls. Makes me wonder if eventually we could see a front 3 with McB/Sharp/McG in the middle and Robbo/Moose/Freeman/Ravel out wide? That said that would probably mean one CM gets sacrificed and I dont think any of them deserves to go at the moment.

Tony Agana was a winger when we signed him. Terry Henry started out as a winger, and Giggs was a pretty decent winger-cum-striker in his mid twenties so i can see the logic. Plus we need players who will run and run so an athletic winger playing as a striker makes sense

All five midfielders the same, individually and collectively.

This is a fair bit to do with the flat 3 in the m8ddle of midfield bit also to do with the 5 players.

Stevens was excellent for the last 2 months of last season. Him apart then, not now, in the absence of Duffy, only L.Freeman shows purpose and quality in the final third. Fleck tries his best, cant do much more than that.

For me, looking at the goals he scored on the video Woody posted he's a striker... they're definitely goals you'd see Striker's score.. admittedly he's still finding his feet at this level, and yeah he could definitely also play as a wide forward cutting in. ..He's not the finished article... needs more time, but Chris must see him as a Striker, he seems to favour him and McBurnie so far... Moose and Billy have done well from the bench, so things could change.
I'm sure we had this with Che Adams... some were disagreeing on whether he was a striker, or a wide player,but he did well at Birmingham up front, and also looks like he's finding it a bit more difficult in the Prem.. Maybe a bit unlucky not to score against us though.
