robbo on the piss

If Robbo has been turning up to training half cut, does anyone seriously think that McCabe would stand for something like that? No one actually know's what happened, or if there was training the next day?

Quite a pointless argument in my eyes.....

taking alcohol is not intoxicated? what is then?

Intoxicated: To stupefy or excite by the action of a chemical substance such as alcohol.

I can drink alcohol without getting drunk. I'm sure many other people can too.

so then the papers have made the story up, both of them because of their reputation?

I'm sure he was out enjoying a drink with his wife and friends.

It's a very big leap to assume he was drunk and incapable of doing his job the following day however.

downing champagne and lager until the early hours with big sam and steve bruce.

Now that to me says hes been drinking enough to get you intoxicated.

geary is slightly different hes a player, not the boss leading the charge.

bit of a difference though SF between having a wee tipple and partying into the early hours of a work morning downing bottled of champagne and lager! :D

And how do you know he should have been at work the next day anyway?

i dont, but foxy said we usually train on sunday and rest monday, being the logic.

Ah... now we're arguing semantics. Maybe if they'd use the word "sipped"? Merely "drank"?

And "bottles"... bottles of things don't tend to go very far between six people.

geary is slightly different hes a player, not the boss leading the charge.

No. He's a professional footballer who makes money out of his body being in the best physical shape. Never mind that though eh?

Really Keenzy, your bias and want to believe the worst of our manager is adding layers on to a snippet in a newspaper that really gives nothing away.

i dont, but foxy said we usually train on sunday and rest monday, being the logic.

Managers of old never used to turn up to most training sessions till later in the week......I used to watch United train and say that as a fact.

John Harris, perhaps the best manager I've seen at the Lane would be a good example.

So if he wasn't taking training I presume it was ok to be out with his wife and a few friends then?

It says nothing other than **POSSIBLY** (as there is no real source/signing/proof) the party he was in drank some champagne and some lager. It also states their wives were there, would they allow their husbands to be in a state which affects their jobs?

If anything, it is worse for a player. Alcohol intake has an affect on many things, with the strict regiemes and diets players are on these days, it WOULD without a doubt affect their performance/fitness.

So all we've established really is that some clubber claims to have seen them and heard a great deal. How many people remember conversations in such detail the day after attending a club? How many people fabricate stories of seeing and being around famous people?

We also have no idea whatsoever whether or not he was indeed working on Sunday, never mind the levels of alcohol he had, if indeed he was there. Other than of course you say that the TV cameras were at the training ground (very strange for a sunday after a game) and identified the story as being true because he was "all over the place". Where is this part from? and why have none of them produced footage/images?

Seems to me like a story which may or may not be true, but had very little bearing on his suitability to be our manager, even if it was true, i'd have expected the levels of intoxication to be sensationalised for effect (very very common in stories of this type), yet it isnt even mentioned.

where was it mention 6 were out drinking? only 3

"a quiet drink with big sam and SB - partied till the early ours of the morning downing drinks. " anything can be twisted but theres a difference in the 2 there.

well its a great way to set an example then isn't it, boss out boozing.

And i agree with you on them being in the best of shape. so does it mean if hes not in his best of shape he should still receive the same money?

And I wasn't aware the gospel now came from papers with headlines such as "You've Not Got M.E. You're Just A Lazy Bastard" and "Diana's Taboo Sex Fantasies Revealed".
You are forgetting the best ones, with the Sport exclusively revealing Hitler's escape bomber found on the moon, along with a London Bus.

And as far as drinking, I could cheerfully drink whisky for the next 24 hours and still pass a breathalyser test. It's the quantity involved, not drinking it after midnight. And considering his team had won, I would think that entitled him to a drink, wouldn't you? I had several.:drunk:

With their wives I read on the link you provided.

Shut up SF... you're not meant to read what was said.

You're supposed to quickly skim it and then let your own bias fill in the details ;)

The Daily Mirror - The trio downed bottles of champagne and lager at the city's Ampersand club with their wives.

well its a great way to set an example then isn't it, boss out boozing.

It's gone from being pissed at training infront of TV cameras to setting a bad example by being out with friends drinking?

Friends AND their wives.

beg your pardon linz only read the back of the paper not the inner.

foxy said about him acting for the cameras, would he be acting in front of the cameras if he was all over the place. didnt actually mean they were there.

at an underachieving club wouldnt it be better the manager turned out everytime with the players not just late on in the week

Or he could be trying to get those better players in?

can't win either way can he?

You said....

"he is, thats how they confirmed it was him, he was all over the place."

Hence me asking where this was from as it wasn't mentioned in the stories?

OUTRAGEOUS!

What kind of bloke sets the bad example of taking the wife out when it's not their birthday or wedding anniversary? That's what's really wrong with all this. Keep the women in their place - either washing, cleaning or ironing.

Cue abuse from all the humourless lesbians.:D

signing players out of the transfer window?

yeah foxy, that was a bad joke,

signing players out of the transfer window?

Many deals are all but tied up outside the window.

I'm yet to see any proof of him not actually turning up to training either.

Its all speculation and rumour, yet to see any fact behind any of it?

It's a bit harsh to hang a man out to dry based upon rumour alone.

Lets face it, quite simply, he went for a few drinks with a few mates, none of this confirmed. Also went with the missus.

Now even if it was training the next day, unless it affected his performance in his role, where is the problem?

how can we get better players in out of the transfer window?

if he had being doing that, where are all the deals then?

but robbie, it might have affected his performance,
