RS will always be good for match day commentary. Can never really fault it, although I do miss Edwards and Asaba on co-comms.

It's the arrogance of a Wednesday fan coming out in Rob. He wants Blades fans to shut up and be quiet. As if we were never going to pipe up over all this?

Exactly that. I genuinely feel for those non playing members of staff who aren't being paid or are being paid late. I also feel for some of the decent Wednesday fans I know.

On the flip side, the levels of delusion coming out are quite staggering and nauseating to say the least.

It’s (in my experience) typical of the majority of Wednesday fans I have met who have such vastly overinflated opinion of how much they matter to the rest of the footballing world that gives me a huge amount of satisfaction as to how the current situation will affect the playing side.

The fact that some of the FH presenters seem to promote that opinion of worldwide importance is laughable.

It’s proper old man shouts at cloud vibes. This has gone on for years now. The account actually links to the original author and generally posts a link too. Far worse ways to do it. A journalist in 2025 needs to accept it’s par for the course now. A journalist in 2015 should’ve accepted it tbh.

Not really sure why Blades fans bother to listen to it.

Staton just comes across as a little self righteous pillock who thinks his views are all that matter, which kind of echoes how things have been on there for a long time. They get someone in who is new, they get their feet under the table with the show, and give it time they become unbearable pillocks. The lad who co presented with Seth Bennett (bald headed chap, a Unitedite) was the same. Good to begin with, get a little too big for their own boots after a bit. Seemingly, Andy G is going the same way apparently (though it wouldn't know that as the last time I tuned in about 2 years ago, he was sound and the best of the lot).

Easy decision. Don't listen. It's crap.

Listening to FH tonight with giddings and a blade texted in saying Wednesday were happy when he was spending money but now mardy because he's stopped spending. Giddings had a dig that it has nothing to do with that, you can tell they aren't happy with blades fans
Yeah you get the impression that if the worst were to happen to Wednesday, that blades fans would be looked at unfavourably as if we actually had anything to do with it, they’ll come out with some line like ‘should be showing solidarity as it could happen to any team’ when the fact of the matter is Wednesday have nobody else to blame but themselves.

It was a bit of a twat move Rob trying to play the mental health card on other peoples behalf.

However, on the plus side, who cares what some 'no mark' who works for a local radio station thinks? They could call SUFC snd our fans a steaming pile of shite every night every week between 6 and 7, for all i care. They matter not.

Met his father. A thoroughly lovely person.
Yes, a well respected headteacher and also very knowledgeable about football.

I'm 95% sure he used to scout for United a long time ago, when scouts ploughed up and down motorways to physically watch games.

Local journalists (BBC included) are a little salty that the Wednesday financial issues aren’t getting more traction nationally. There’s been cursory mentions of it, but it’s a footnote compared to who Sesko signs for, or any other given premier league transfer rumour on the day.

The way they see it, a “massive” club teetering over the edge should be bigger news, and it should be getting more attention as a story.

Some of them are probably also a little sensitive about united fans taking the piss, and trivialising what is essentially the biggest story that some of these journalists will ever cover.

Can’t say I’m particularly sympathetic.

To be fair I think the Radio Sheffield lads do a far better job than I would do if I was required to be impartial
We may know/ guess who they support, you would definitely know who I support ,

It's a fair comment about quoting and crediting sources and in this day and age posting a link as advertising revenue keeps these local publications afloat.

There are lots of people on Twitter who just steal other people's content and news. In a game like football journalism sources and contacts are what used to get people work.

Paul walker legend
My mate, who's a lunatic and a a Wednesday/Chesterfield fan used to call Paul up on Praise of Grumble and come out with some right nonsense. Paul once asked him what he thought about drawing Mansfield. "it's a town" he responded and hung up. Paul new the mission. Make something entertaining, annoying and informative.

Rob is an excellent commentator and solid presenter, along with the other FH lads. Few areas of the country have sports coverage as good as what they provide, and I am grateful for that.

But I do feel he has let emotions get to him in recent weeks, and he isn't doing himself any favours clashing swords with United fans on twitter when they take the piss out of Wednesday.

There does seem to be a general FH policy to shut down any sort of piss taking atm though. Adam and Andy are just as bad.

All three of them are decent commentators. No ego to be had there as it’s about what’s happening on the pitch.

Local papers don't get money from journalists getting tagged on Twatter. Can see why it's frustrating, they've done the story after all and have a job to try and keep.

Nobody would click it, but seems like the original piece should be quoted to be fair. Fairly standard practice anywhere else, to reference the source.

Otherwise it's just accounts on twitter, growing their audience, on news they didn't write.
They’ve just got to realise radio and newspapers are dead technologies, have been for years but they hang on trying to be relevant and attach themselves to a digital world.

I’m 73 and don’t use radio or newspapers for news. My elderly next door neighbour religiously puts the Green Un through my door from his copy of the Star. I don’t even glance at it, goes straight in recycling cause everything in there I’ve read online, on here, WhatsApp with friends and family.

Shut em down

That would be all well and good but as I said this little episode from Staton was The Bladesman quoting The Star and it had fuck all to do with Rob Staton or Radio Sheffield.

Rob just inserts himself into the discussion even though all Danny Hall was doing was correcting The Bladesman's post, Danny was not complaining that they shouldn't be posting. Also, The Bladesman deleted the incorrect post, reposted the corrected version and as usual linked to the original Star article.

No one clicks on the links any more anyway since traditional print media turned their websites into migraine inducing halls of mirrors filled with click bait spam shit. It's easier to download a pirated movie than read an article on a news site these days.

It's their own fault as well, and I don't blame the journalists at all. I assume they're under pressure to churn out X numer of words per day, hawk it round, drive traffic and then watch as their overlords track it's click-through success rate rather than it's quality.

i rate all 3, especially Giddings. I'll miss him saying "The Bosnian" 40 times a game.

They clearly picked sides on Kevin McCabe/ PA and Wilder/PA and Wilder/COH, in that they misjudged the feelings (and numbers) of those who disagreed with them. Clearly learning nothing they’ve done the same over the belief United fans aren’t entitled to comment. Perhaps we need incoherent attendance fixated hooligan boasting ex jailbirds to call in. They never had a problem with that.
Had a spat with that pillock on a You Tube message board last week. Guess what about ? Yep attendance figures

Do you think the local journos just get carte blanche to do proper deep dives?

But aren't they they ones feeding those other sources?

What when the journos stop - because they're out of a job?

I agree, I don't read online newspapers either, but indirectly, we need them right?
