After the game yesterday (and after a celebratory pint in the Blue Boar) my dad and I triumphantly headed back to London on't train. This fella clocked our Blades shirts, and started chatting to us. Turns out he's Paul Walker's brother. Very nice bloke, super-friendly. Gave us some interesting gossip about certain people that I won't repeat here (Would probably get a stern PM from Foxy/Linz directly after) but one thing I can say is that he was adamant that Rob Staton, contrary to what a lot of us think, is a full-on Red-And-White, pig-hating Blade. I was surprised, and it took a while for him to convince me. But Staton's a Blade. Officially. There you go.

Well he has put on a good disguise pretending he isn't a Blade.

I'll bet that "Paul Walkers brother" said that he wouldn't come in your mouth, either ;)

No he isn't. He's primarily an NFL fan with a twattish preference for the filth up the road, as evidenced by everything he's ever said.

Thankfully I stopped listening to RS a decade ago. It's just a sounding board for the worst elements of United and Pigs supporters trying to become local celebrities, and then there's fans of other South Yorks teams whose opinions don't matter.

Allus thought he was a Miller with a penchant for pork - a "Wendy Miller" if you like.

They are all pretty good commentators on RS, though, it has to be said. If you heard the shit on many other local rads. Strewth

As a sports presenter he says the right thing in that he wants all local clubs to do well, which of course is fair enough.

As a kid he watched both Wendy and Millers

Due to his allegiance to porktalk, He has to be a pig first

Millers his second side

We are a distant nowhere

Turned out for Owlstalk FC AFAIK.

Most certainly not a Blade. And if he's suddenly decided he is well... that's even worse.

And I understand Paul Walker started taking his kids to Hillsborough. I believe there was a falling out with McCabe and Warnock back in the day which soured Walker's relationship with the club. "Massive" pinch of salt required with anything coming from him, directly or via proxy.

Blimey. He's an old friend of an old friend, and though I've not spoken to him for a number of years he was very much a Blade in the immediate post-Warnock era, as he was growing up. I know his career meant more to him than fandom, but you'd expect that.

I'll make some enquiries as that's an horrific turn of events. :)

Happy to be told otherwise but I'd heard from more than one person that there was some lingering ill-feeling.

No he isn't Rob is 100% a Wednesday fan my Dad knows his Dad and Rob is 100% Wednesday. I'm not in the know about anything but I do know Rob Staton is a Wednesday fan.

That's disappointing to hear. I wouldn't take my kids down Hillsborough even if I was employed and then sacked by United and Wednesday offered me free tickets! If I was a Radio Sheffield presenter though there is no way I'd not tel people what team I supported and that in itself tells me that they aren't a strong fan of any club. The only exception appears to be Andy Giddings who has always stated he supports Halifax, although he must be the poshest bloke I've ever met from Halifax!

T'was a wee while back I heard that. There may have been an epiphany since.

That's why he was kept out of the loop when managers were sacked and then he backed Blackwell to the hilt, criticising the club and was a mardy arse when Blades phoned in about him. Good commentator but too arrogant to host a phone in.
