It's incredibly tight - and hard to really tell from this angle - probably depends on how far all the knees are sticking out - but there's absolutely no way a lino can be certain enough to flag it.

He’s barely off. It’s marginal. Where’s the benefit of the doubt to the attackers?

Anyone near the penalty shout for handball from Billy's Cross. Plenty on the kop went up for it including a couple of the players, not quick enough to get art mi seat to get a good view. But still better placed than the ref who turned it darn point blank?.

It definitely hit his arm, but for me it wasn't a penalty. It was less of a penalty than the Norwood one later on which also wasn't given.

Off so a good call from the linesman as that was tight, loads would have missed that.

in the prem that wouldn’t have stood.

Defo offside unfortunately, Sky coverage was right along the line and as much as we'd have wanted them to get it wrong, they got that right, the sending off and the Blackburn penalty.

Everything in between however is very much open to question

Under the current interpretation of the laws of the game the Blackburn one should have been given. Van Hecke(?)'s arm was in an unnatural position and it diverted the ball. Intent doesn't come into it.

Norwood's wasn't a penalty as his arm was in a natural position for a man sliding.

Egan's was about as blatant as they come.

Egan playing basketball last night. Whats more annoying is I am sure JLT was behind him to get rid of that.

Mate that line is just about on the joining of the grass cut lines at one end and 2/3 foot away from the same line at the other!

Billy knew that wasn’t a penalty. He was almost laughing after it got turned down.

It was a good call. One of 3 good calls all night. The rest were dogshit.
Absolutely. The ref was making silly calls all night but the 3 that were crucial, he got right.

Which passes me off about one Rovers fan on the 'View From' saying something along the lines of "typical United with a corrupt ref" we had a goal disallowed, player sent off, pen given against us and picked up the most fowls/cards. If that ref was corrupted by us we need to pay him a damn sight more. Fuck me.

Thats a bad angle, he was off

Pundit on Sky commentary said it wasn’t a penalty as player had his back to the ball. Surely that’s rubbish. If you have your arm out in an unnatural position and it hits your arm so effectively stops the ball then it is a pen. Doesn’t matter whether you are facing the player who kicks it or with your back to it?

Off side may be but it was definitely tight even VAR has difficulty in get it right it’s all about refesh rates of digital camera capture and the split second forward pass. If I was the linesman I would not of put the flag up as it was to close to call and the benefit of the doubt should go with the attacking team

Here's a better view that they showed on the international stream, and presumably on Sky. Much clearer and the lino is perfectly in line. Correct decision.
