"Right man at the wrong time" or just a Crap Manager?

To be fair the welsh side is awful however I think it's the wrong job for him. Surely he wants to be a success at club level. He will never get Wales to a Major Competition (I Doubt Mourinho,Sir Alex,Arsene or Pep could). He will ruin his reputation and I doubt any club would touch him. His CV will be pretty shocking in terms of management. Should have stuck it out with us saying that I am glad he has gone.

Respected Him as a player, lost respect for how he jumped ship from us.

As I said in "welcome to the bleak years" he has no experience and was the wrong man.
If he hadn't left us for his dream job, he would have been the one getting us relegated and not MA.
Was the cheap option and backfired.

Just another example of a respected ex-pro with no discernable managerial ability hopping on board the old boys gravy train.

Kind of agree with BH. I do think he's been given jobs on the strength of his playing record (he was a very good player). What I would say is that the Wales job is nothing to measure him by. However he struck me as being tactically naive whilst in charge of the Blades.....good ideas but no substance in our play.

He bottled it big time when he left us for Wales. He was the captain of a sinking ship and got a chance to escape. It was great escape route cos as a crap manager it's generally going to take you longer to get found out as manager of an international team, especially Wales cos of the low expectations and the goodwill he has there.

Had he gone to another club I suspect he'd be on the verge of the sack by now and struggle to get another job.

As it is he'll get another go at club management on the back of MoTD face.

Our league record under Speed:

P18 W6 D3 L9 pts 21

Under Adams

P23 W4 D5 L14 pts 17

Speed's record, whilst not brilliant, was a fair bit better than Adams and, extrapoltaed, over the whole season would have given us around 53 points - a comfortable survival.

I'm quietly confident that Speed would have made a better fist of the January Transfer window than Adams did as well.

I second that. However I really wish Speed hadn't lost his bollox after the loss to Scunthorpe. We played well that night and got shafted yet we never played anywhere like that afterwards
