Crazy how many people on here think that Premiership survival, or even just beating Leeds, hangs on signing a young lad.

Was really hoping to hear better news than this, but now its the it could go down to the wire!

Next week Wilder will be saying we're hopeful, but its not certain and we'll go with what we've got if we have to if we can't get one done!

Not that he has much of a choice. The problem is not so much that we can't bring in someone (obviously), but we can't bring in someone who is better than what we have because they cost more than we can afford for the fee and/or wages so we're left in this constant game of mind games, negotiation and bartering and then we run out of time, but often clubs will only give in if it near the end of the window and there is not better offer for the club out there (Villa) .

Exactly the same quotes again from Chris. So clearly nothing is imminent. He couldn’t be any clearer In His desire for things to take a step forward.

So frustrating as there must be a deal to be done for at least one of the attackers we have looked at. We have held on held on, at some point it’s going to start costing us.

The fact we're still in dialogue with Liverpool is promising, as frustrating as it may be for us.

Its already cost us to be fair - we went into the first two games of the season with Billy as our only fit striker (under normal circumstances I'd expect Billy, as good as he is, to be 4th or 5th choice), and we desperately needed someone to come in that offers an upgrade on what we've got. Hopefully we'll get that, and maybe Burke will turn out to be a good addition, he certainly has some good attributes, but we all know we needed someone in for Wolves not for Arsenal at the earliest, and may have to wait to January at this rate!

Also said it could go to the final day. He concedes that we're not a club that can do business quickly, presumably because of our lack of financial clout.

My guess is that another club will shift a striker, or two out & gazump our offer. Hopefully we're progressing on one or two others as a contingency.

If this thread hasn't depressed me enough I've just been reminded that you have to be out of the pub by 10 pm tonight , 10 FUCKIN O CLOCK ,not bothered about Brewster any more, life just ain't worth living

We need to be progressing somewhere - at the end of the day the question becomes would we have been better getting say balogun 2 months ago so he could have had a preseason and acclimatised.

Waiting until Deadline day Leaves us open to getting nothing over the line (we have seen that happen before). Far to much risk for my likening.

The board need to decide one way or the other - if they are serious about Brewster than go and get him in, if it’s too much (fair enough it might well be) go and get the next best alternative in and have someone contributing.

Maybe not specifically Brewster, however it's evident that we lack goals and our best striker (no matter what you think of his fitness levels) is out with a long-term injury

Brewster and this other young un Balogun are the only players we've had definitive links to, so it's understandable many are going to be frustrated if this one doesn't happen because it's getting closer and closer to the deadline and right now there seems to be no clear alternative to Brewster that is a recognised goal scorer

14 minutes to wrap this up 🤞🤞

I swear to god if Villa sign Brewster the lots going up

Be reight, just get on the white wine 😃⚔️

Three days in a row I've had a dream about us getting beaten and relegated. I don't know if this guy is the person to prevent that but if it could get over the line for the sake of being able to wake up with a hard-on again, that would be great.

I can't understand how it takes 4-5 weeks to realise we don't have the money for him
