Happy to be proved wrong, but can't see it happening.

It seems we are trying extremely hard to get this over the line, but we look to be a few bob short and feels like we've pushed hard on the softer (development-led) sell to Liverpool and Brewster.

The romantic in me suggests this would be enough, but can't see it happening.

Regardless of how we paint it we still arent really (relatively) an attractive proposition for players, the sway of working under Wilder we often see as an Ace up the sleeve, more often than not isn't going to be enough.

From a development point of view, i think game time is by far and a way the biggest influence and opportunity for a young player to develop.

Much more than the influence of any manager or coaching staff.

Whether Brewster would develop more at us or Palace, for me, would come down to game time. You'd suspect we'd offer him a starting role, but if Palace hace given similar assurances and in all liklihood an extra half a million quid a year why would he join us?

Spudgun.

As long as that approach doesn’t leave us Bottom...

Our media team had a quiet weekend, very little content. Fair enough, particularly with Monday match... OR... Is it because they've heavily prepared today's announcement of Brewster, Balogun, Isak and Thuram....?!
Why, what do they normally do of a weekend? Lob TV's out of the Copthorne window?

And no, that's not trans-phobic before anyone wokes up. ;)

So we seemingly can't afford him on a permanent this summer? If true CW/AK have been thrown under the bus by the ownership. It makes me wonder if it'll be the same next year with the other half of the mortgage still needing paying. Chris was uncharacteristically forward with the press re Brewster which supports this theory.

It’s only a fifth of the mortgage not half as it’s a five year mortgage.

It will be interesting to see what the lad goes for and the pay structure. I see him developing at the lane more in 1 season that at palace, due to him obtaining more prem appearances. Betting should be no indication, if a deal has been struck then said betting companies pull the bet down. Whatever happens, we need a striker and wilder will be addressing this...I honestly do not see the window closing without a new striker

Hope something moves now, we need him, arguably more than Palace do but I'm sure their fans would feel the same. Issue we have is lack of alternatives! We've improved the squad no end this summer but right now our 1st team is weaker than it was a few months ago. We have to change that... if you stand still, we know which way you go
We may have a list of good alternatives but not that we know about

I thought that but can't see it now it is our own fault for fannying about.
How many times is a fan going to accuse their club of "fannying around"?! We have no real clue what is going on. They're private deals. We only know we're even interested because CW admitted it (unusually), and even that could be smoke and mirrors.

I got genuinely excited a month or so ago when WUM said we were in for Isak. Young, quick, proven in La Liga, not a winger and seemed too random a suggestion not to have any basis. Unfortunately I fell for it.

Had the misfortune of clicking the mails article and it’s says literally nothing other than he’s a palace target and Liverpool are willing to do a deal.

It is Klopp that's fannyed about - he's constantly delayed making a decision on Brewster's future.
That said , our situation has grown more desperate with Mousset out injured and perhaps we should have moved to other targets.
If our patchwork quilt of a strike force fails to score at Villa , our desperation will be obvious to sellers who will increase their prices.
Chris has a huge job on his hands just now.

What do you mean by "fannying around"? Do you mean being unwilling/unable to pay the £25m asking price to purchase the player? It's very easy to spend other people's money isn't it?

Yeah its easy to spend other peoples money. Just hope the Prince doesnt end up with the worlds eggiest face with his dreams of top ten consolidation, ner mind Europe.

Look, if we can get a deal through that fits within what we decided at the start of this window was financially viable for us, great.

But if we can’t get it through without going over the budget we’ve set ourselves, and without putting the club at risk, so be it and move on to the next target.

A reason why I suggested a low-budget freebie for our backup RWB was so that we could divert the other resources into a striker. We’ve not done that, and I’m pleased with the value we’ve got for the new wingbacks who represent long-term investments that can also have an impact now. But it does have the obvious potential knock-on effect on what we have left to spend.

Much like the under-the-radar Bogle/Lowe deals while the Cash negotiations went nowhere, I doubt we’ve been simply putting all energies into the Brewster deal. We’re at a point of the window where the business going on will be likely making some players available who weren’t even a few weeks ago, and I won’t be surprised if we ultimately end up with a good signing up front for a player that has barely a handful of rumour mill thread pages...

If we are fannying around doesn't that mean Palace are fannying around as well?

By all accounts Palace have offered the exact same deal we have, so it comes down to the player, best place for him etc. If palace want to buy him now they need to sell
