For me McGoldrick should be playing behind McBurnie and Burke against Villa.

With Fleck and Berge behind him.

We'd get overrun if we played the 10 role again. We just need our midfielders to be better.

He's an enigma. He doesn't score many, he doesn't assist many. But you only have to watch our games to see what he does do. Tracks the ball, always available, retains possession, slows play down in the final third, allows us to get up the field, create our overloads, execute our game plan.

I agree, on paper, he shouldn't be selected. But it's clear as day what he brings when he's on the pitch. Until our midfield start taking on more responsibility for what he does, he has to play.

He does all of what you mention very well which is why for me he should be playing as our attacking midfielder just behind McBurnie and Burke and I would have Fleck and Berge behind him i would like to see that given a try.

For me he would be better in our midfield in an attacking role if anywhere he is a clever player that brings others into the game no doubt about it he just lacks the end product infront of goal at this level same as Billy sadly.

It's not romance. I'm not the Chairman of the David McGoldrick Appreciation Society. I just watch all of our games and can see the difference in our play when he's not on the pitch.

I wish we weren't so reliant on him. I'd much prefer it if our midfield 3 were more mobile and took on more responsibility for getting us up the park and keeping us there. Then we could play with 2 genuine goal threats at the top of the park.

Sadly, they don't. Without McGoldrick we play long ball and we don't look threatening.

I think Ampadu mostly, but I can see Norwood taking on some of the sacrificial duties from Bash as Sander keeps improving, so he'll come off for a third striker, or another defender if we're leading.
