Far from “stating quite clearly”, I actually said Chris Wilder didn’t otherwise he wouldn’t have got rid of two of them.

This all started because I made the point that the board might actually question how their money was being spent, given that we’re already replacing two of last year’s record signings. Is it an outlandish suggestion that we might possibly have spent our money more wisely? In any instance, I never gave my opinion. I’d actually have liked us to have kept Freeman. I thought he was a good signing and looked good whenever he played.

You can’t even get my job right. I never said I survey houses, I only survey university buildings. 😉

Bugger
That's my Copthorne/Railway scene down the tubes then !

We will not get away with it this season - CW said so in July when he identified "better quality at the top of the pitch" as his priority.
Which, playing devil's advocate, begs the question "then why did we commit so much on a goalkeeper?"

Because the fee is set before he scores 20 goals...

Yeh so why do that if you don’t have to sell the player which was my point

Liverpool don’t have to sell so the idea they might buckle at last moment is a strange one IMO

I wouldn’t say they’ll buckle, they want what’s best for the lad and that won’t be sitting on the bench if he even gets that. So if they want him developed properly by getting minutes but no one is willing to buy we will still be sat round the table offering them an option

That’s a fair point but if they are also willing to sell and they get a decent offer from a team then likely that loan deal is dead

Also they may see him staying at Swansea or going to another team as good a chance to continue to develop

I guess we will soon find out in about 10 days

As of right now I think all possibilities are on the table for Liverpool but I imagine soon enough we’ll see movement whether that be teams making approaches, teams walking away. Or United announcing him on Tuesday.

Yeh right now they don’t have to do anything, f teams are only interested in a loan then we are just one of several teams in the chase then at that point so it’s wait and see

There is no doubt he is potentially a good player, but can we afford to spend all our budget on potential?
It appears that we thought we had a chance of a loan to buy deal which would not have left us as financially exposed and still potentially kept some cash in the bank if needed for the January window.
It appears Liverpool moved the goal posts and quite rightly in my opinion we are looking to renegotiate the original deal or look elsewhere.

NEW NEWS...WHERE'S THE FRIKIN NEW NEWS DAMN IT!?

We know how much they want for him on a permanent deal we are not prepared to pay that or structure a deal on that basis.
Until Liverpool revert to their initial deal I e loan to buy it is parked or another club comes in. Interesting that to date no one else seems to want the deal that Liverpool have proposed

If you have the money you can go in and pay over the odds and get deals done in days

We are other end having to treat it like an auction or shopping for Bargains, just the way it is, cut you’re cloth accordingly

I’m just guessing here that others might be interested but the player wants to come to us so they are trying to sort that

If we still only want a loan and someone else wants to pay then game over

Who would have thought Rhian Brewster could end up defining our football club?
Imagine, if we don’t get him due to procrastination, Villa nip in next week and he’s mega netting 20 goals and we get relegated it will destroy any trust, judgement and the ability to own / fund a football club between the manager, fans and owners.

If we buy and he bombs and we get relegated trust in Wilder by owners could be damaged beyond repair.

If we buy and he’s successful, we stay up and he is the kingpin in us becoming a force in the PL we will all be relieved, but are the owners that brave or is HRH a FIFA game consul owner where he can speculate to his hearts content and when he looses he’s not out of pocket?

He's proved a dragon in the business and boardroom of football but can he cut it now he’s in control and his money is at risk?

Brewster is our rubicon!

Would love to know how long it takes to put an actual bid in for a player

I mean I’m guessing the he is yours talk happened early this week if not last week

If the same offer went to Villa does it take them a phone call to chairman then send bid via whatever they use ???

If you pay a smal l percentage upfront ( say 3 million )it is effectively a loan to buy anyway

United are correct to not bid a guaranteed 20mil even if it is over a period of time , he’s had one good championship 6 months that doesn’t equal 20 million. if I was structuring a deal I’d say 9 million spread over 3 years and a further 9 if we stay up , or something along the lines of that.
