You're using a very poor sample pot

Barry started 6 games. 5 of those were in Selles' 5 games.
He started once under Wilder in the 1-0 win over Watford.

After Watford he played 27mins at Preston then got injured never to be seen again.

Judging anybody in our first 5 games of the season, I'd probably even say first 10 games, would be silly

We are absolutely not paying anywhere near 5million this window. Unless we have a sale lined up, and even then 5mill on this kid would be a huge risk.

I’d hope that we would be one of the Championship teams in for him, as I think this lad is a top-half prem player waiting to happen… but he doesn’t fit into the three categories of recent signings:
1: anyone available for free
2: injury-prone has-been on the decline who will net Jamie Hoyland a decent back-hander.
3: Japhet Tanganga

This is the sort of player that would be an ideal signing. Left winger, let him bed in the squad this season, dont expect too much, but next season he'll fly. Somebody the club could look at making a good profit on.
Its all too sensible to be Sheffield United's sort of business.
Also think if it does happen he'll probably go on loan back to Barnsley for the rest of the season.
