Who do we expect to be going?
I think...
Long, Reed, Hussey, Holmes, Donaldson, Carruthers, Hanson, Lavery, Wright, Henighan;
I know some of the above are under contract

Think Henighan will be kept and sent on loan.
Don't see Holmes leaving unless he asks to, in which case I wouldn't blame him.

As much as I love Wilder, Holmes is one of the oddest transfers I can remember.

An aging (talented) player bought for a position we invariably don't use and behind at least two other players for his secondary role. Meanwhile, the guy who bought him knows him extremely well and has pursued him for months.

He then actually plays relatively well in the few minutes he gets on the pitch, but is not see again for the backend of the season despite being fit.

Weird.

Changing the subject slightly but I'm starting to think Adkins never stood a chance at United with the shit he had to work with who were still under contract. I don't think they really took to him either.

I reckon Robinson will try and sign him for Oxford. Really odd that Wilder had him at Northampton and you would think he would play him here but he's hardly featured. Maybe something is going on we're not aware of.

You're right Houso, it is a weird one. I happen to like Holmes, I don't think he's yet got to the point of using his zimmer frame, but probably has 2-3 good years ahead of him. He had one really good game at Wolves where the consensus was that he was best player on the pitch. Since then the fella's been on the bench with barely a look in. Seems that a few voices disapprove of him, but given that he's not had a chance to regularly show what he's capable of it seems such an odd way to use someone that was clearly on Wilder's radar. Holmes must feel peeved and wondering why Wilder pursued him. Although different to Duffy, Holmes still possesses sufficient creativity to make a difference, and at times that's exactly what we've lacked. As you say, a strange purchase, and unsure about why United pursued him.

Precisely my reading of it as well mate. Mind boggling.

Add to that the fact that Duffy was rested for a fair portion of the January period onwards, Brooks, another attacking midfielder/winger/forward has also been unavailable and Carruthers has been totally out of favour.

Despite all of the above, he’s hardly been given a run out, despite one of the few at the Wolves away game to cone out with any credit.

He could have been our Bergkamp to Leon’s Henry! :)

Surely he'll follow Wilder to Sunderland !?!

Also obvious that Billy Fleck & Moore are on their way(s) - gave their boots away @ Brizzle - what other explanation could there be?

I think we should retain the red n white stripes, and fuck off the shit purple and white kits.

Holmes could be used as good leverage if we want to sign any players from L1 clubs.

We have quite a clear out ahead of us when you factor in all the fringe players. Looks like it'll be about 13 including the returning loanees.

Wilder will sign the odd player who wont work or fit in

All signings are punts , the key is to make more positive ones than duff ones

even Alex Ferguson signed some right donkeys

They are human and some judgements might work in their heads but not on grass

On paper Wilson should have ripped most championship defences apart but he didnt

Won't be too bothered to see Moore go and never even heard of Billy Fleck, so can't see us missing him either.

I would have thought if Wilder was staying the retsined ist would be out by now unless he is waiting to see what his budget is. I just can't see him waiting long.

Weird.

I remember a post-match interview given by Wilder where he mentioned bringing a player on who then “ran into the opposition instead of playing the easy ball out wide”

It sounded like Brooks to me but watching the highlights back, it turned out to be Holmes. I think it was the Forest match.

CW sounded frustrated with him and it was quite unusual to hear him singling a player or a mistake out.

If he's dropped Peroni for that Greek shit we ought to ship him out now!

Problem with that is that Holmes is now on a Championship wage and very few League One clubs will be able to afford his wages. We might end up having to pay part of his wages to move him on.
