Ask yourself these questions :
Once Souttar was injured it was clear that we needed a similar quality replacement and asap.
WHY then , was it not the TOP priority throughout the window ?
WHY did CW fanny about until the last day of the window , thereby leaving our defence under-strength the whole month.
We had the chance to sign the lad from QPR who was on an upward trajectory in his career.
And we reportedly sacrificed the desk for the sake of £1m ... WHY ?
We clearly weren't short of money , looking at the fee for the Cannon that won't fire.
WHY , when we finally recruited a CB , did Wilder choose a CB who hadn't played for 18mths , in the full knowledge that he'd need a month to get match-fit ?
Thereby doubling from one month to two months , the length of time when we had to play Robbo !
WHY , when Holding finally played and looked calm & competent , did Wilder then prefer to play an admittedly inferior (backup) player in Robbo , as opposed to an ex-Arsenal , top quality Holding ?
WHY did Wilder bother to recruit him and pay his presumably high PL wages whilst waiting for him to get match-fit
AND THEN choose not to play him ?
Once you have given those questions very serious consideration , you will not find the stretch too far-fetched.
Ps
Did you notice on X that a poll of over 2,000 Blades put Jack Robinson
RANK BOTTOM
of a 22-man list of which current staff they'd like to see at the Lane next season ?
Wilder finished just above him , at 6th from bottom.
Holding , who's barely been selected , finished above Wilder.
If the owners can't pick up such a clear message and act accordingly , they are not the competent businessmen they first appeared to be.
And of course , Wilder now has Bettis going in to bat for him on the board.
This Robinson issue , plus £10m for a Cannon that won't fire , following exactly the 'JoC replaced by Brewster' clanger which relegated us in 20/21 , ought to be sounding loud alarms in the owners earholes.
