I know like the craziest idea ever. Although I know they had the additional subs in Covid it was in place at 5 subs in 23/24 for our Premier League season. I don’t know anything about professional conditioning but apart from when players are coming back from an injury they should be easily be able to last 90 minutes, tracking back etc. Apparently according to google a Championship midfielder averages 10-12km in a 90 minutes match. I am 38 and ran a sub 1 hour 10k last year and I am no where near what I would class as fit. It seems the “workload” is very light at best especially as most of our midfielders are walking and then make the occasional run.Surely it's against the rules to buy players that can last anywhere near 90 minutes? I don't think that's allowed.
