The team is in desperate need of a rest.

The biggest problem we have at the moment is just the sheer lack of energy on the pitch.

I would literally just say chill out for a couple of days and just go in on Thursday for prep. I'd be tempted to take them to a spa resort somewhere and do the same next week with just the bare minimum fitness work to keep them in shape. .

Play the kids and those who need match fitness against Stoke. Start Brooks, McCallum, Brewster, O'Hare, One, Baptiste etc. Rest Burrows, Cooper, Peck. Anel, Hamer. Find and free Gilchrist. Tie Shackleton up so he can't go off dogging and has to play.

Get them back in properly after the final game and train them for a 3 game cup run. Concentrate on small scale. 5-aside. Quick bursts. one-touch passing.

Our only hope is to somehow reenergise them, because we're playing team after team more determined than us.

It's a double edged sword for me

I'd like to see key players get some rest, but at the same time I'd like us to work on some tactics that are not purely relying on Hamer pulling rabbits out of his arse!

It's a balancing act. Rest those in need and play those that need minutes. Do you play the first team for the last game as we don't want them going in totally cold? It's a hard balancing act imo. I've no idea if Souza needs rest or minutes.Moore probably needs games

What do you do with Campbell? Burrows, Peck, Hamer, Anel obviously need resting. Holding needs minutes. I wouldn't risk the starting right back for the play offs.

Souza still doesn't look up to match sharpness. Unless he is carrying a knock/pull , he should be starting.
Holding should also be starting the next 2 games to try and get him match fit as should Cannon and Moore
I would give them all bits of games. Holding should definitely start next game and play 60 minutes. Ditto to the other two. Build them up.

Id give the 2 new lads a place in the match day squad as well

They're not going to suddenly learn knew tactics at this stage in the season.

I think he's only semi recovered and that's the problem. He constantly appears on the edge of breaking down again and can't be feeling confident. 2 weeks rest might give him the refresh he needs

It's a big advantage for us and Sunderland who are both guaranteed playoffs, so can rest players.
Others really 4 teams still in with a chance need to keep going full tilt

On a side-note the race for the play-off looks interesting now Millwall are back in the race and Middlesbrough playing Coventry on the final day. Would be stupid of Wilder to not rest them for the next couple of weeks but wouldn't put it past him.

Most of the team barely manage 65 minutes without looking shattered I would suggest more time playing not less to get to full fitness

Winning breeds confidence though and I wonder how Sunderland are mentally given they've been in the playoffs but out of automatic contention for almost a month now and their form/results are as bad as ours. Are they suddenly going to be good again when the playoffs come around?

He has a knock limping today

Team v Stoke

Cooper
Seriki. Anel. Holding. McCallum
Choudhury. Blacker.
Rak-Sakyi O’Hare BBD
Moore.

Rest burrows, peck, Souza and Hamer.

Holding needs minutes and more time to build a partnership with Anel
I'd go with:

------------Davies
Shackleton Baptiste Holding McCallum
---------------Choudhury Blacker
JRS-----------------------------------Brooks
---------------------O'Hare
----------------Moore

Souza doesn't need resting. He needs benching but he's not match sharp (or match fit) and been sloppy since he's returned from injury.

Hamer, Cooper, Burrows and Campbell need a rest and maybe 4-5 days away to get some sunshine and their heads straight for the play offs. Maybe even include Anel in this as he's looked off it for a few games aswell.

The alternative is rest key players this week & next and give them a mini pre season in the week leading up to the first keg.

Hopefully this first keg you speak of is for post match celebrations after winning the playoffs

Wilder wants 90 pts so expect minimal changes. Not sure what getting 90 pts achieves? Rather rest everyone
I think he'll rest players. He may want 90 points, but he won't be taking unnecessary risks.

I would agree with the OP, except I wouldn't be resting Anel, I would be starting him with Holding, centre back is the (outfield) position that requires the least rotation by far, and having an additional 180 minutes of match practice between what should be our first choice CB pairing outweighs fatigue aspects for me.

I'd like to. Take a look at gilchrist at centre half possibly even Baptiste in case holding just doesn't gain match fitness but holding has to. Start the next two

Maybe even. Go. With a back 3 and test burrows and seriki as attacking wing backs
Wilder probably won't do any of this though

The slump in results is down to him not playing holding into fitness after he didn't sign a dominant. Centre back to replace souttar
Any competent defender would have done but we ended up with laurel and hardy instead
