On his way, unfortunately. Fair enough he's had a lot of injury problems, but one of the last "true blades" at the club who would've run through brick walls for us.

Good luck Terry!

Is this a sign Adkins is staying?

Surely we couldn't sack another manager after letting him retain and release players.. could we?!

Yes I was thinking the same. Remember clough releasing Doyle and others before being released himself. Crazy.

But hadn't the board's intention at that point been to keep him, and that the sacking only became their preferred option after meeting him after this had been done?

Isn't Hammond on loan?

Which means he's not ours to release and I don't see this new technical board sanctioning his signing as he's exactly the sort of player it's been set up to exclude.
Thank god someone has said that, was about to point it out myself before all the toys get thrown out when Hammond/sammon/Edgar aren't on the released list.

I can see Hammond signing in a player-coach role, he's been a captain during his career so must have some good leadership qualities.

Wouldn't be a bad move if that happened, with Hammond being a squad/back up player.

It is a shame for the lad, he looked a genuine prospect but injuries let him down, but had injuries not let him down and he had gone on and progressed, then I'm sure he wouldn't have shown us any sentiment and fucked off as soon as his agents turned his head with the bright lights of somewhere like Hull, just like his mate Maguire. That is exactly why there is no room for sentiment in this game.

Just in case anyone has noticed, Sheffield United is a football club, not a fucking convealscent home for perennially injured footballers.

I'm just hoping amongst others James Wallace and Florent Cuvelier are picking their cards up tomorrow.

I disagree. I think there is some room for sentiment. Kennedy have been part of the club since he was a boy and has always given 100%. Okay it may be the right decision but there's no call for describing him as a stain.

If there is no room for sentiment in football you may as well support Leicester rather than the blades I just think you gone too far

Might as well go and support Leicester???

That's a nice way to refer to a long standing season ticket holder who cares about this club, and is rightfully angry about the current clubs plight.

I know for a fact that LS26BLADE actually gives a shit about the plight this club finds itself in, and is mightily pissed off that we are paying the physically incapable a handsome wage every week for very little, amongst other things.

If anyone needs to fuck off and go and support Leicester, then I suggest it is you

I don't know what his coaching qualifications are but as a player he's just too slow.

I think he's a decent quality player and I think he has a first class attitude but his legs have gone.

I stopped playing at 35 when I wasn't getting on the end of crosses that I would have buried two years earlier. It was all just too frustrating for me and I feel that Hammond is at that same place.

Biggest difference was that I played for fun because I had a well paid job, for Hammond it's his living and he probably has a mortgage and bills to pay so in that respect it was a lot easier for me to let go than it is for someone dependant on the wage.

Good lad and a true Blade, certainly the kind of player we want to keep coming from our academy. Yes he has had injury problems, but I think he should have been given something, if not a full term 1st team contract then something like a rolling appearance-based deal? Anyway, I'll always have fond memories of him keeping Charlie Austin in his back pocket for the full 90 when we smashed QPR three nowt just after new year's last season. Great day that was.

My point is that football support is built on sentiment. Its not rationale.

If it was purely rationale then we would all now support the most successful side, who at the moment are Leicester. Of course I don't expect LS26blade to support them. I know that sentiment plays a huge part. That is what I am saying, in support of a lad who has given his all for us and is now staring at the ruins of his career before it has even got going.

Why else would we all be on here getting hot under the collar about such a poor footballing team as Sheffield United?

I think we all wanted him to succeed, he hasn't- mainly due to no fault of his own.
I understand the fans who are gutted for him and I understand the ones who are just glad to just get rid.
Neither of you are wrong but if you want to vent your anger at a player at least do it at a player who picked drink, drugs and nights out over giving a shit about the fans.

Sentiment given where sentiment is earnt.

Unfortunately for the lad, injuries have derailed his career at Sheffield United, doesn't mean his football career has ended.
Hard enough for the manager to make a clear out of fully-fit professionals, what's he supposed to do with those who are lame?

Wish him all the best for the future, but in another twelve months time, he'll just be on the list of players who didn't "make it" at Sheffield United.

We should retire the number 26 shirt in his memory.
