Pretty self explanatory really.....

Which players can you name, who scored absolutely worldies / screamers / belters for us..... but otherwise you may forget they even played for us.

I start thee with a player by the name of Jean Calve... A French full back who came on trial and was initially given the "no thanks" by Blackwell... Speed however pulled him back to the club and chose to give him the green light.

In his season at the club, he played 18 times and in my opinion falls into that "vaguely remember when prompted" category.....

However, he will be remembered for an absolute better of a goal against Preston....

Who have we got folks?.... memories alone will suffice... video footage would be amazing, however I appreciate that some will be heading way back into the archives...

Remember barrel chested right back John Ryan scoring from about 30 yards against Rotherham in about 1981. There's footage on YouTube somewhere but can't find it now.

Older viewers will also fondly recall Bob Atkins last minute winner at Millmoor at Easter 1984.

And how important was James Wilson's headed winner against Oxford to give Wilder his first league win for us after that awful start.

John Gannon and Mike Lake have a few. They were terrible players.

No!! Gannon won round the doubters, his set pieces were excellent, apart from Forest away and Bradford at home I can't remember many goals but he was a great servant. Lake looked great before breaking his leg but lost pace and confidence after, and despite great goals faded. Both Lake brothers were so unlucky with injuries.

Recent history (but the player will more than likely be forgotten eventually): Lee Evans against Boro' in the 18/19 season.

I'll never forget Lee Evans because my claim to shame is after being there on his debut I decided that he was a better version of Coutts. He only came on in the 82nd minute apparently, one too many beers consumed.

David Frain v Sunderland
Andy Kennedy v Blackburn

There's a couple to be going on with...

The Andy Kennedy one springs to mind for me too. I was stood on the Kop and well remember him running with the ball from halfway before - unlike MGW when he was through on Tuesday night and Ndiaye on a couple of occasions recently - burying the ball in the top corner giving the Keeper no chance.

Frain’s last minute winner v Sunderland in the same season was indeed also a cracker…

Filmed on a potato but another cracker from John Cofie in a pre season match.

HMS Shipperley scoring an overhead kick.

EDIT - I know Shipperley was well remembered I just forgot about this goal til I saw it the other week

Blackburn - drew 3-3

It was a brilliant goal but I always remember the game as being one we should have won, and which revealed the frailties that would see us start sliding down the table and Porterfield sacked.

We’d won 5 on the bounce going into this game and even though we’d go and thump league leaders Portsmouth at their place the following week, that Blackburn fixture felt like a momentum-stopper. It all went downhill after the Portsmouth game.

That Ryan goal was a belter, I had forgotten about that.
