Remember that match. Cold day, air smelt of fish and the pitch looked like a ploughed field..Back in the day I went to a few disastrous away days. Wrexham for a midweek cup game, not only did we get hammered, I got food poisoning from a dodgy chip shop supper. Grimsby away in the fa cup , got hammered then kept in by the local police after, squashing us all in a tiny space behind the stand. The wooden fence got smashed down and everyone poured out into people's back yards. Luton town away in the cup. Aston Villa etc. Too many to remember.

3 things? If you include Grimsby. With Villa one of the most central grounds in England, I'm intrigued to know why the air smelt of fish?
There's only 2 things that smell of fish, and one of them's fish![]()
I have forgotten this one (deliberate amnesia?) I might have to give you this. Was it that Utd were awful (quite likely under Heath), or that Man City were good?Man City at Maine Rd 1999 under Heath we lost six nil their winger Kennedy tore us a new one that day, remember Shaun Murphy been completely out of his depth that game.
