Is he a permanent or what ?

He's in his final year of contract, so Brighton must have taken the option to extend his contract for another year.

Otherwise loaning him out for the season and watching him walk for free next year didn't make sense

So, as he's still under contract United have to pay a fee to buy him.

If it is a loan with a view to a permanent move, of course

Going back a bit but I remember when we played Plymouth Argyle in the 80's and their best player was Mike Trusson.
Not sure if we played them once or twice and he performed brilliantly against us both time.
We signed him and he was OK but underwhelming.
OK ? Didnt he win player of the season twice running ? Scored goals, could tackle then play the ball to Hatton or Morris. One of my favourite from that era

Interesting signing. Will be interested to see how he fits into how we play. He likes to float out wide, so who knows how we'll use him.

Lots of flair and someone who likes to run at defenders. Something we don't have that much of.

I do think some are getting a bit carried away. He was very in and out last season. Needs to become consistent.

Didn't know he was player of the season. Maybe it was his position or style of play but Morris, Edwards and Hatton stood out more of me.
I even rated Kevin Arnott higher. Altho the be honest the view stood on the terraces wasn't usually the best ha ha.

Also agree with the suggestion of Luke Freeman, he was brilliant playing against us for Stevenage
and he also looked quality playing for QPR against us.
Then he joins us......shows odd glimpses of skill but there's little end product and he hardly plays.

Heh ???
You are joking … or has your memory gone?

Trusson was a very good player for United. Didn't he win the POTY for us one season (80-81)?

Lost his way a bit admittedly and ended up doing the rounds but he was a decent young player for United as far as I can remember (though he wasn't up against much in a very grim and shit United side).
Trusson was a decent player.

Harsh on Ifill
I for one liked Ifill. He came with big expectations (cos of the way he always had a blinder against us for Millwall) and he never quite lived up to that expectation, but he was a very decent player for us and won us a few games by himself. He was a match winner against ordinary opposition and not a world beater but still a very underrated player and I liked him. Sad when he moved on.
