image.jpeg I am always interested in anything red and white. I wondered whether any of you can name the object in this picture, which I took today, in England. Like me, and like United, it is old, totally red and white, and in good health for its age. And it is pointing upwards, looking towards a bright future. No prizes for the winner, just the satisfaction of being right, something most of us on here enjoy. And my son is barred from entering the competition.

You win the prize. For those not ITK, I of S is Isles of Scilly. The day marker was built in the 17th century as a navigational aid in what are treacherous seas. Feels like a shrine to the Blades, seen from miles around.

You mean someone built a tower to help sailors tell what day of the week it is?

Great place - used to go there on my hols when I was a kid. Beautiful place! Enjoy it buddy

As a footnote, some of you may not know of the easiest admin job in English football - fixtures secretary in the Isles of Sclly. Two teams, picked in a pub pre-season, just one pitch on the islands. The fixtures secretary has to arrange 22 fixtures for each team: 10 home, 10 away in the League; league Cup final; and FA Cup final. And he must make sure the pubs are open at the final whistle of each match.

Isles of Scilly are very high on my list of places to visit. Often thought about a day trip when we visit St Ives but never got round to it yet but would prefer to spend a few days rather than one. Hope you are enjoying it.

Definitely better to come for a few days. 5 islands, all different, good local beers...
