The whole recruitment philosophy we have at the moment just isn't viable for promotion. Paying way over the odds for championship rejects on their way down doesn't get you out of this division. Believe it or not, a leaf needs to be taken out of the books of these smaller clubs getting promotion out of nowhere. They recruit unknowns that become well knowns and make it work as a team. Which is exactly what we should have been doing years ago.
Recruitment next season needs to be dropped down to a similar strategy to the clubs that go up on much smaller budgets. The budget itself though is one thing that shouldn't be dropped to the kind of level the majority of the clubs in this league have to work with. That resources advantage that should be available next season needs to be there so it is much easier to do it better than they can.
Only problem being the manager has done more or less everything to prove he doesn't learn from his mistakes and will replicate his poor managerial ability on a much larger scale. It's a shame that a little unbeaten run is enough to have deceived appropriately and afforded him the opportunity to do so. It should all be alright though because we've won and drawn a few games.
