Really really promising ...but

He did miss a good chance but also won a header which set up Burke's good chance.I just wished his header had fallen to Brewster to see what he would have done with it.

You may well be right, but we finished 9th last season with these forwards, and we've added Brewster. I wouldn't write us off just yet.
We have lost Henderson>Ramsdale, O'Connell>any player we could get as LCB and Mousset by far out best striker when fit.

We won’t score enough goals to keep us up

lots of plaudits and very plucky but we don’t have the players to score enough goals to keep us up IMO
And of course that was the problem the last time we were in the top league. This time i think we are 'better' in the forward area but still nowhere near good enough to stop up.

He didn’t want to be sold, he didn’t even want to be loaned. We’ll probably have to give him time to adapt to a changed reality.
Not sure where you’ve got this from? He wanted first team football, hence going to Swansea. I don’t blame him if he didn’t want to leave Liverpool but I don’t think you can question his mentality just by what you read in the papers

God there are some fucking idiots that claim to know about football writing on this forum.
In most positions on the pitch, I think it's fair to say that 20mil gets you what 5 mil used to, unless you are fortunate enough to have some clubs pants down.
Last season I think we can all agree as successful as it was, we were only one step off a bad injury, loss of form and multiple suspensions etc. for it to go pear shaped

And pear shaped it went thanks to nobodies fault other than Covid. I honestly believe playing in empty stadiums has affected us more than any other Prem club.
I also believe CW gets this, the owners get it also. If the squad ever gets back to full strength and fingers crossed before the end of the Jan window, all is not lost.
We need to accept this is not last season that's confined to history, we'll be ok, ride out the storm, a few green shoots at Anfield last night, and remember .....
In Wilder we trust.

Are these the same neutrals who said we played Brexit football, only a year ago and would be annihilated every week? It’s hard to gauge if we are valuing the neutrals opinions, or not.
There's a difference between predictions for the season ahead, and offering your opinion on a match you've just watched - the neutrals have proved themselves useless at the former but the latter is still of interest IMO.

That said, on the BBC's "rate the players" section for last night's game, Brewster gets the third highest rating after Berge and Ampadu!

Really promising...but we lost, but I'm still thoroughly proud of that team. We were never really going to win at Anfield and you can't really expect to outplay Liverpool. But we battled to a man all over the pitch. And we were in it all the way- fantastic.

Ampadu, Osborne, Baldock, Egan and especially Berge were excellent- the rest not far behind. McB is not for me but fair play he won every aerial challenge so thats a feather in cap to him.

Of course losing is really hard to take, everyone loves to win but as Blades we are in it with the team together, and not 1 player let us down last night - heads up - smiles on -move on.

Unfortunately, some of the key relegation ingredients are there. Playing well, but still losing. Competing well, but lacking the extra quality up front, and (thanks to not replacing JOC) at the back, key injuries (Mous, Fleck, JOC).

Where we can be hopeful - we have a great manager, Mouss and Fleck will return before Christmas, we aren't getting completely turned over, and this is a horrible run of games.

If wilder can keep their heads up during this run of games with performances like that the results will come. Also imo judging someone like Brewster during this run of games would be unfair

It's not going to be easy, but last nights perfectly against most teams, you get that bit extra time on the ball, and slightly more chance to score!

If that had been the first game of the season, I'd be feeling so confident! It's not, and we've had a shit start, got to pick our heads up moving forward, and we can still stay up 💪

You may well be right, but we finished 9th last season with these forwards, and we've added Brewster. I wouldn't write us off just yet.

A lot of that was due to our superb defence last season, and our best defender in that side is out of the season.

Wolves put two past us, so did The Arse and Liverpool last night, but in the last two games we scored. So our average is losing by a single goal. In this league, that's not bad, but of course, over the course of a season, we will be relegated. It's stating the obvious, but we need to find our scoring boots. I don't care how unglamorous or unentertaining the game is, I just want 3 points on the board, or as a minimum, 1 point per game. When we are clear of the bottom three, and with no chance of sliding back down there, then play some entertaining football, but until then, scruffy three points please.

It's still so early that if we get 3 points from somewhere it all of a sudden looks less daunting, we have been so close, a missed pen at Villa, one of those chances goes in at Leeds or fulham and this whole season looks different and we look competitive, it's a long season. It's so off-putting how some fans are, 4 years of constant success, and the first sign of struggle and we're shit. Get a grip

I honestly think we made massive strides towards finding our best starting eleven last night.
Ampadu at DCM was great to see.
Berge is amazing going forward and RCM is definitely his best position. I think his move to us will define his career.
Burke is the kind of attacking player you’d hate to defend against. Big, strong and fast! He will score and create goals.
Osborn is a very good wing back. If that volley is a yard either side of the keeper it would of capped off a great performance.

We looked like a really good team again last night. My only negatives are...
Enda, as good as he is going forward, is not my ideal choice as the LCB. That being said his quality did provide more balance to the left side going forward.
Lundstram, surely not the best option at LCM. Another ridiculous challenge just 2 mins into the game, was fully expecting him to get sent off at some point there after. I prefer Osborn at LCM in Flecks absence. Maybe CWAK will go in that direction when Lowe recovers.

All in all I’m very confident the results will come after that performance. My ‘concerns’ are only slight... more creases that need ironing out.
Onwards and upwards... really looking forward to the City game!

I think the club needs to get creative as some EFL clubs are already doing and start allowing fans into the hospitality areas of the ground.

Also, as tacky as it is but fans on screens as well.

Players need to know the fans are behind them rather than reading the shite on social media.

Brewster written off already then ?
It would seem that way...just like Berge was. I’m being told that they really mean to say not quite fit enough just yet but it seems to me that some experts are including him on the NGE list after only 75 minutes of football. They’re certainly not excluding him are they? 😂

Defensively we will be fine, so many other teams will concede far more goals than us which is already evident! We really need to start putting away chances and creating more. hitting them from outside the box as well. We will go down if we continue not to score. We have only score 1 from open play so far!!!!

We have had some improved performances but we have to create more and that means we need to be less defensive minded. Sitting 10 men behind the ball and not pressing to win the ball back invites pressure. We arent going to score without the ball and with half the overall possession of the opposition makes it even harder.

Our mentality needs to be far more positive and creative, more value needs to be given to retaining possession and being creative with it. The crosses from wide last season worked well but that has become easier to defend against especially with slow build up play.

Ampadu has to start in midfield to give composure and allow berge to play further up. Osborn also was very positive and full of energy! This midfield set-up has to be the way forward if we want to create more! Lunny, fleck and norward havent risen to the challenge this season!

One other factor no-one's hardly mentioned is that of the 6 games we've played, from the table as it stands, we've played the sides in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 8th and 9th, plus fulham. Wolves and Arsenal win today and we'll have played sides in 2 3 4 5 and 6. To some extent this is a misleading statistic of course given where the likes of the Manchester clubs are languishing, and i doubt they'll be bottom half for long. But for the optimist we can take comfort that we've mostly played the most in-form sides in the division.

Did Brewster play?

Just ignore the ones writing him off, he does need to get up to match sharpness though and he’ll only get that by playing competitive minutes so we might have to be a very patient bunch considering his lack of football over recent months.

He wont score many. Sadly he's bollocks. A headless grouse.
