Give the bed wetters some confidence that the club is indeed going to move in the right direction.
I would strongly urge them not to do that. There is a section of our support (fairly small but very loud) that would use it to spin and misinterpret whatever was said and find or make up even more reasons to attack the club. We’ve all seen the embarrassing meltdown over this transfer window weeks before it is over, so the last thing they should be doing is putting out statements or giving interviews that would further encourage a few people to behave like emotionally incontinent cretins.

Let’s not forget that the mindset of the doom monger likely doesn’t just reflect their thoughts on the club, that degree of conditioned negativity is probably deeply rooted and infects other parts of their lives. So nothing is ever going to make them happy which makes it pointless for the owners to engage with them.

It worries me hamer and cooper will be gone replaced by rubbish lets be honest 13 m for Souza where’s it gone 7 and 2 m for the two players this week do 22 m bought in I think it’s 1 m spent unless we see quality we’re in for a tough season
Money is best spent paying new players big wages than big transfer money. It's hard to do both always.

Irrespective, why should they pander to the minority?

They shouldn’t. It’s not pandering to engage with the fans and should have nothing to do with minorities or majorities. If you don’t believe it’s good practice, good relations, or simply not needed then that is your opinion

You're allowed an opinion, no one is disputing that. But if 5000 fans are unhappy and 25000 are happy, why should they pander to the demands of the 5000 and listen to them instead of the 25000?

Why should they explain themselves to you because your personal expectations haven't been met...... so far?

Are you trying to say that the majority wouldn’t be interested in listening to the clubs plans? I don’t understand your logic?

As I say, minorities and majorities is irrelevant. It’s about engagement with the “fan base”

Your minority/majority view doesn’t make sense to me, sorry

No, I stand by that. That was a post based on the way we played overall last season and how many wins we ground out undeservedly over the entire season, because the 92 points flattered us and made us look better than we actually were.

My point was that if we played another season the exact same way then I have no doubt that we'd fall short and not achieve 92 points again as we relied heavily on luck and wearing down teams and not beating them through quality. If Wilder was still in charge we would not reach 92 points this season. I'd bet any amount of money on that.

I don't know if we'll reach 92 points again this season. We have a new manager, new formation, new style of play, so I can't judge.
I don’t agree. I don’t believe we were flattered by our results; you don’t get 92 points by luck, no one ever has and no one ever will.

I think Wilder was sacked because we didn’t get promotion (I say that because it’s difficult to imagine him getting the boot if we had gone up) so I’m hopeful that the professionals running the club think Selles will achieve what Wilder failed to do.

At this stage I’m not worried about recruitment. There’s plenty of time to go and no indications that we are skint. I’m hoping for at least one of two things, improved results and entertainment. For the former, it’s clear that Selles will be a success if he improves on what we did last season (more points and/or promotion). Concerning entertainment, I seem to be out of step with many of the regular posters on this forum although not, I think, with the majority of supporters; I enjoyed last season, apart from the last 20 minutes, and enjoyed seeing my team win loads of tough matches. A number of posters seem to think we played badly last season and expect us to be more entertaining this time around; beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that so the only way we will be able to assess whether we are playing ‘better’ football is whether there are more bums on seats. If attendances go up then that will show we are more attractive than last year; if they go down you would be hard pressed to argue that we are playing better footy.

I’m hopeful for the new season, always am. I think I’ve recovered from Wembley (hadn’t watched any footy during the summer but got dragged down to USG v Leuven last week, 5-0 win, good fun) and looking forward to being back at BDTBL. Bring it on!

Perhaps the majority of fans have read the statements made by the club, have taken onboard and understand what they have said, what their intentions are, how it's likely to happen and won't react in anger until the transfer window is shut, instead of over reacting and being impatient. Perhaps they don't need a statement from the club as it won't tell them anything that they don't already know or understand. The only people I've read making demands are the ones currently in meltdown, and on here at least, they are the minority.

feels like there’s a lack of understanding of American CEO culture as well. They aren’t going to do fan forums, they aren’t going to do interviews (unless heavily scripted), they are going to communicate through wordy statements.

They’re also working on different timelines to us, fans are talking like we have to get promoted this season, but the board have never stated that as their aim. They want to build a sustainable, modern club they can flip for massive profit. That doesn’t happen overnight and they know that.

Again I don’t look at it from a minority majority point of view or why should they engage either a loud minority

I look at it from a fan engagement point of view. I think it’s good practice for a set of owners, particularly new owners to show good faith and engage with the fan base regardless

Lastly, we are going around in circles, so no more from me on this one

So I see Gerald from Clarksons farm has joined the forum…….welcome bey

There have been endless discussions all day under different titled threads regarding the owners, the manager, players being sold, player's not being bought etc, but come 5.30pm on Saturday, there is only one thing that matters, and that is the current 11 players on the pitch, and so this post from Proper Blade is true and relevant beyond words (well said you 👏)

We've only sold Anel and Souza. We haven't replaced Anel yet and we've replaced Souza with Soumare?

Are you writing off Soumare as a crap signing before he's even kicked a ball? Really? You're that narrow minded.

What is going on with this forum? Reading posts on here recently is like listening to a Trump MAGA rally. I don't know what's worse. The ill informed illogical garbage that gets posted, or people taking it for gospel, reacting to it and having a meltdown over it.

I've seen some stupid pre-seasons on this forum, but this last week has surpassed previous ones.
You on some kind of percentage from the owners as their publicity guy? Anybody posts anything slightly negative and you are on them, people express their personal doubts based on what they see happening at the club, we don’t need the club Rottweiler rubbishing valid opinions. Everyone is narrow minded, talks rubbish, illogical, ill informed or talks garbage, according to you.

Have a day off, go for a walk, by 8pm tomorrow we will have a better idea of how things look.

Have a nice day.

I hope we play extraordinarily good, but have terrible luck, and teams are not wore down but excited to play us until the 100th minute because we concede lots of fucking late goals due to being too open and being too naive to know when to just win.

Here's to 52 points and 100 goals, and an unjust last day relegation, unjust because the exciting football should have brought more points....

I don't think it's much of a stretch to say we wouldn't have got 92 points, as teams rarely do get 92 points. But isn't the flip side to your argument that he put that team together in about 5 minutes, basically from scratch, and STILL got 92 points? Another year and another transfer window may well have meant we improved.

As we stand here now, relying on cheap transfers/loans and basically with Wilder's squad, I'd bet that we'd have been better off not changing manager, in the short term at least. But we'll never know, so we all have to get behind Selles no matter what we think, as if we don't go up this season, it'll be a long time before we return to the Premier League.

As Terry Neil said, " Shame on you" !

Interesting thread some good questions and some poor answers. You don't get to control the narrative this season Tony_Kaufman mate, just because you got the manager change you wanted. People can moan and question, just like you did last season . It's how it works.

Also though isn't Silky Sabella a confirmed pig? And if so, why are we letting him start threads and fights?

Yes, I got the manager change I desperately wanted by Wilder being sacked. There are ONLY 3 Blades managers who are LEGENDS !
