I've clearly tried to blank that season but is that the one with badges down the red stripe. That gives me the shivers but I can't think why

Not necessarily my favourite, but I'd love a return to this kit from the great era of the late 80's! Superb memories, legendary players/manager and a commentator like no other Daryl Bentley? "It's there" for every goal! Just realised it's, of course, the same as Sir Bob's on profile pic!

I went coaching in the US around that time and we used to sell excess Umbro kits to Us school kids.

The year I did it was the flouresant yellow away kit and we had loads of home kits like this to flog, plus Luton Town kits as well

Was there a yellow version of this? I know there has been some really bad remakes of a yellow one but was there an actual yellow version we played in originally?

You can't have the white home shirt in anything other than 'burn it' because it should have been an away kit. The 'Deano' pinstripe is also in the top category.

Never seen a colour pic of it. Didn't wear it very much, but remember it at Stoke. The shock of seeing them in an all blue kit. Woody at Arsenal I think it is. Think of a Chelsea or Everton shade, all blue though no other colour

I was lucky enough to get the green away kit from this season and it's by far my favourite kit, unfortunately it'll always be associated by this shit show of a season.

If we had it when we went up then it would've gone down as a classic.

I was lucky enough to get the green away kit from this season and it's by far my favourite kit, unfortunately it'll always be associated by this shit show of a season.

If we had it when we went up then it would've gone down as a classic.

Last time I looked they still had the green one in size M.

Unfortunately, even though I have lost a shedload of weight I'm never going to fit into an Adidas M.

Bit of a plug, but all these got some serious love in the podcast series we did with John Devlin (author and all round kit expert). And if you can’t be arsed to listen, then the tweets in the thread itself (and/or PowerPoint, both found above) are well worth a look.

There were a couple of things we missed or glossed over, so after the next kit launch, we were thinking of asking him back to do a mop-up podcast, plus look at any other bits we might come up with. The 70s blue kit is probably one of them.

Yes, there was. Didn't wear it that much, but remember seeing the all yellow at Brentford. Not a great pic, but Tibbott and Speight.

I loved nearly all the Laver kits. But I never really took to the laces kit

CB the 93 shirt with lace in front was one of my favourite, but all time fave has to be early 70's

Thanks Hal, that’s nice to hear. Not trying to hijack this thread either, just that those three kits mentioned do get a fair bit of coverage in our pod... and John chucks up some really good info about some of them (and some of the manufacturers)
