I really, really want to like Ramsdale. I want him to be a long standing GK for us and a club legend. However, i'm finding it extremely difficult to.
The thing with him for me is his concentration and/or positioning. At least once a game he ends up sat on the floor with absolutely no idea where the ball is. I think he's gotten away with all of them, but it gives me absolutely no confidence whatsoever.
Arsenal's first goal. He's ended up trying to stop the cross and in a poor position for Saka to aim at 75% of the goal.

Leeds goal. Sent the wrong way with a header

Even our goal against Bournemouth last season. How do you even get in that position as a GK?

He reminds me of kids in the playground - he seems to want to come for every ball. But then it seems our defenders would rather try and win it to stop that happening. This then leads to weak/poor headed clearances which fall to the opposition and put us under more pressure - Southampton's 1st goal comes to mind.
Here's one he got away with, this was v Leicester, he came for a routine catch and ended up getting away with it after dropping the ball:

Bogle's chest back v Newcastle. Why has he come to that position? (kid in a playground).

It's like he was trying to intercept the ball from #16 despite it clearly going towards Bogle. It's barely going to make it into the area, therefore it isn't his responsibility. If Bogle fucks it up, it's on him.

As I say, i'm trying to like him and not be harsh on the lad. But currently, he scares the shit out of me
Absolutely spot on.
We concede piles of goals where debate is split on - "Could Ramsdale have done better?"
For me, the answer is always nearly - yes.
He gets his hand to a lot of shots & fans say - you can't blame Ramsdale for that. Henderson wouldn't have got to that.
But dig a little bit deeper & you notice - the ball's not even gone in in the corner.
His starting positions (firstly) & then his lack of agility (secondly) to compensate, ensure that shots that shouldn't go in often do.
Henderson made a lot of saves look very routine last season which Ramsdale would have either conceded, or made to look extremely difficult.
And you're also bang on that his erratic decision making does nothing to put our defence at ease. This adds enormously to our difficulties in defending crosses.
I also want to like him. But he's been a poor signing.
