I think that 12 or so years of dominance in Sheffield is a pretty special achievement - certainly for someone who grew up in the 80's when SWFC seemed to be on a different planet to SUFC.

So fellow loyal Blades drink a drink tonight to a largely fantastic 12 years, spoilt only by Kevin Blackwell and Micky Adams but you can't have everything.

All good things come to an end though and the tide has turned. I know finishing below Wendy has been virtually impossible the mess they have been in but McCabe deserves a modicum of credit I suppose for owning the club through this 'golden age'. Unfortunately, Wendy have got their act together now and it will be painful but we will rise again, don't know when, don't know where from but we will.

Up The Blades and all the fabulous memories we have.

The massive might well finish above us this season, but next season they will still be in League 1 with us.

Its sickening to see the pigs above us, but its hardly an achievement for them, when they too are languishing in this division.

Its going to be a long season and we need to make sure we pick ourselves up again from this poor run of form.

I won't start getting critical of Danny Wilson at this point, but 11 games in the table is starting to take shape. We're 6th and in fairness we've had a relatively easy start to the season but as soon as we've come up against the better teams we've been found out.

Danny Wilson has been able to bring his players in and whilst we've had a few good performances, I felt that against Charlton we lost that professionalism and the organisation.

Danny Wilson has got to now start doing earning his money and seeing as though yourself and Pinchy were hugely behind him, I'm sure your support isn't wavouring.

Is the season over? where did we finish?

Let me categorically state Swiss that I am not behind any manager who thinks Doyle and Monty is a midfield pairing and his signings are beyond a joke. Never have been, it's the muppet show that got me going when he was appointed - had to give him a chance and they shamed the club, but the vultures are circling now. Some bloke at DVS having a pop because his arms are folded all the time.

Danny is by far and away preferable to Blackwell or Adams and I'm enjoying my football again to some extent which is all I ask.

Unfortunately not. He was pathetically banned...

No he wasn't. He was banned because he kept abusing the goodwill of the people who pay for this site, despite it being pointed out to him several times that his behaviour was not acceptable.

If you continue to show off in someone's house eventually they are going to show you the door.

There's a simple answer if you don't like it.

You've changed your tune Mic.

Blackwell got results.

Seriously Swiss I haven't. Stated a few times I am after entertainment this term and for most part I've enjoyed it. Never said Wilson was a great manager or anything - he isn't Adams and he isn't Blackwell so that is good enough for me. You can worry about the results for me.

Calm down dear.

Calm down dear.

I'm calm as. I just find it strange that people wonder why lenners got banned, despite him being arrogant, patronising, self-centred, offensive and above all else, a first rate twat.

I'd have banned him a long time before Foxy and Linz did, as I suspect many more would have.

Still, calm as ever. Harry Hill is on later, and there's over two hours of X Factor to not watch. What's to get worked up about?

Personally I wouldn't neccessarily blame Blackwell and Adams for our current demise. Adams bless him wasn't up to the task, Blackwell got sacked after a creditable draw at Baaardiff a league cup loss at Hartlepool (big deal) and a thrashing by a team who were rampant at the time. I'd point the finger more at Mcabe and immature spoilt super celebrity Seen Been who combined to push out Warnock. I also wasn't impressed with Speed who baled out when the going got tough, wimp.

Still, onwards and upwards Up the Blades

Yep, real calm dude you.

McCabe is the man ..................................... don't blame the Patsy's !

Unfortunately not. He was pathetic, and got banned.

You know very little about football Duncs imo but I really worry about you if you cannot see that the tide has turned.

I don't profess to know anything much about football, but I do know a lot more about human nature, and I can read you like a book. Yes the piggies have gone above us in the league. They did this last week, in case you didn't notice, so I don't get all this simpering and depressive wailing for our lost status now. You are 7 days late.

All this 'tide turning' stuff (even if it were true), is entirely irrelevant. Every Blade (True Blade, I might offer..?) knows that if they were winning Champions League, and we were playing in front of 700 in the Northern Counties, they STILL wouldn't be a better club than us, in any regard. In terms of this season, we are not even a third of the way through, they've won nowt, and achieved little. They are having their luck at the moment, and thats fine. You've come on here before with you apologetic whines about how much they've suffered and how wonderful their away support is and so on. No doubt you'll slip into some Lenist state, telling us how much better they are at Season Tickets shortly, and how much we can learn from them. I do believe its how you finish that matters, and if you think that blue, white and ginger are the answer then I am not the one with the blind-spot. If you are so convinced, then off to Bill Hills you go with your next salary. piggies are 6-1 at the moment for the title. Lump it on!

To conclude, I would like to offer one piece of advice. Man-up, and show some dignity (thats two pieces of advice really, but I'm doing a 2-for-1 special with it being Saturday)...

This is a tough division and there are going to be many ups and down the table before the fat lady sings. Oh for the days when when the rivalry amounted to who was the highest in the real First Division!

Blow me, I agree with Micadilly! Spot on Mica - couldn't agree more.

I was thinking after the Pigs / Chessy game, which I listened to on BP, that the whole atmosphere of this league reminds me of 1979.
After being relegated to the third division we started off that season well and were top when we played 4th place Pigs the day after Christmas Day. We never recovered and finished the season 12th (Chessy finised 4th behind Pigs - who got up in third place).

It was a long, long time until we could get any revenge. The double in the first division with the glorious Bobby Davision match at the Sty (still my favourite Blades game) was the first time we topped them after that and it took the best part of 12.5 years to get that back.

Bravo!!!!!!

The funny and yet embarrasing part?

All they have left is each other and their pathetic rivalry.

The Sheffield clubs have long since been forgotten by the football world.

Indeed. Im reminded of the Star Trek episode where the guys with black and white faces are pursuing each other round the universe.

Keep yer hair on.

It looks bad at the moment but that's just because they're on a good run and we're on a bad run - plus we have a game in hand now.

Things can change quickly. A month ago we were the bees knees and they were shit remember.

Not wavering at all Swiss. DW has a massively harder job than you are suggesting. There is no quick fix (we've been there). He'll need time and patience.

You'll search in vain for any suggestion from me that we'll go up this season. This is nowhere near Danny's team yet. We won't see that for 12-18 months. It'll be a good one, though.

I hope you are right Pinchy

Game in hand Hmmmmn.
Away at Preston. Only won once there in recent history. Match to be played 2 days after the derby. Not so sure that's as much of a cert as you imply Nudders.

Pigs have played Charlton away and MKD at home and got 4 points. We have played both Hudds and Charlton at home and got nil point with no goals.

Last time we beat them at home we had pace in the team and Cotterill did the business in the first half. We hung on for a 3-2 win after letting them off the hook 2nd half. With NMl unlikely to shake off a hammy before next Aunday we will be very light on attacking creative options.
Having said that, every game DW has had against the better teams in this league he has gone for the max experience in Midfield. Willo, Doyle, Cress, Monts, Quinn. Slow and defensive. Maybe that's why we catch a cold against the better sides. Too predictable and lacking any flair, Quinn apart - but he's not the quickest either.
