Don't get me wrong, I think Radio Sheffield provides great coverage of our local football and we are very lucky to have this, I also think two of the three regular journo's do a very good job of reporting/commentating on the games. But I do think one of those guys is totally inept and it's pretty obvious which one that is.

Yesterday, was a case in point.

I was one of 2000 Blades at Forest watching the game. Around 2pm we picked up the team news and were amazed to see Clarke and Brooks dropped to the bench. "Why?" was the question all of us had. Especially seeing as there's an international break coming up next week. "Were they injured?" or "Were they just being rested?". "Is this a tactical change?" We just didn't know.

All we know is that playing Donaldson up front on his own away from home and a starting place for Lundstram in midfield was one of the strangest decisions we've seen Wilder take since he took charge here.

So, what do you think one of they key questions a "professional" journalist would be asking Wilder in the post-match interview? Something about the reasons for the changes to a winning team maybe?

But no, it never occurred to the guy to ask Wilder that question. Many of the callers to the show afterwards wanted to know the answer to the same question too.

For heaven's sake - it's time they let this lad, the one who's vast knowledge of football had us down as relegation strugglers this season and managed to insert the word "survival" every time Sheffield United came up in pre season, go on his way. Or go back to journalism school and learn how to identify what are the key points and topics that need to be extracted from a live interview based on the event that has just taken place.

I'm just amazed at this guy's total incompetence. Get rid and bring somebody in who knows what they are doing. I'm sure Paul Walker can fill in, in the meantime.

I actually don't mind the show after the games,it's more than not filled with comedy gold often spoiled by a barnsley fan or chesterfield fan ringing in.
To be fair, they have given clueless Carlos so proper grief all week.
Don't think they have the bottle to slag Chris of nazereth off,he'd clip one of em!!

We just didn't know.

I think many people had similar questions prematch. However, when we lined up, it became obvious that we had gone with 3-4-1-1.

My comments were that Basham will drop into the back 3 and Lundstram taking his place in midfield. We lined up defensively and with Duffy playing off Donaldson.

Did it work? Well we scored early, dominated possession, Duffy played brilliantly and but for two sloppy goals, we continued the first half on the front foot, sometimes getting caught on the break, but it didn't restrict our attacking game. Chances fell to Basham and JOC as well.

Clarke had come off on Weds with a tight hamstring.

We could've been more clinical, but we also needed to beware of the counter. The formation didn't hinder our attacking threat.

I agree, but it was clear that Donaldson wasn't up for playing lone striker, he was replaced by Clarke. Lundstram made way for Brookes, which gave Lundstram plenty of game time with Coutts possibly out for ipswich having picked up another booking.

I don't have a problem with Radio Sheffield the post match is to get the immediate reactions, not really to go into the tactical matters, I expect that would come during the days after the match, perhaps the midweek press brief. To be honest I thought it was self explanatory when the game kicked off why the changes were made

I noticed the other night (Wednesday or Thursday) on football heaven a pig referred to us as the pigs and it went completely unchallenged. Firstly they are the pigs and secondly I thought there was an amnesty on the radio of referring to each other by this name? As far as I am concerned every Blade that rings up should now call them by there proper name 'the pigs' as it seems this is now ok by football heaven standards.

So who is 'this guy', 'this lad'. Is there a reason you have skirted round his name, beaten around the bush and generally not named names?

Maybe he (whoever he is) felt questioning Wilder's selection after such an amazing start was not the correct thing to do. And let's face it if you personally can't name names in a football forum for whatever reason you clearly wouldn't have asked Wilder the question either.

3-4-1-1. No wonder we lost

tbf to dropping clarke and Brooks those 2 worked extremely hard for the pigs and wolves games they deserved a rest would we have won if those two had started we'll never know not too mention city ground has always been a bit of a dodgy place for us a much needed week off and then on to ipswich
