So. Ok, he's no experience but he is a Blades legend. Touted himself previously (probably had to take a day off from driving the lorry to go to the interview) and been passed over but... he's seen just about every game United have played for the last 10 seasons, watching closely. he knows opposition players, could maybe formulate a team out of 'nobodies', which let's face it, seems to be the way our squad will be going again from next season.... so....

Keith Edwards, anyone?

I would rather spunk 10xGraham's number on the horses than have keith Edwards' as manager.

I am glad you are not a rich director of the Blades! Edwards would be worse than Peters and Heath! He has no experience in coaching at the professional level.

Your suggestion of having Edwards as our manager is worse than your suggestion that we should sign Jeff Minton!

Im being philosophical. We arent going to get anyone any good to replace him, lets face it. I'd have Lee Clark in a heartbeat but we dont have the brains in the boardroom to appoint anyone forward thinking.

PS - that isnt me on the radio right now.

One thing to provide an expert summary, but its another to do the daily grind of coaching and managing.

I would love United to take his ideas on board though. He's often seen as overly critical, but he talks a lot of sense when it comes to Tactics, Set plays, passing and ball retention.

Mind you i'd love to just pop along to Shirecliffe and give one piece of advice

Keep the fecking ball!

he could get coaches in to back him up?

It'd be like something from a ropey Hollywood movie. Washed up ex-star... Never quite made in the world since his talent burned out... Been singing into the wind and no-one would listen...

**adopts gravelly voice**

But against all odds... And with a plucky band of misfits at his side... Glory beckons!

:)

He COULD, but better to get a manager with coaching experience himself.

But more importantly, get a manager with proven experience at this level. Or if we can't afford it. Sell the chuffing hotel

Can't we ask Macca to come in..... just to work on our midfield for the last few weeks ?

He is clever with his words but it takes more than that to be a manager, more suited to sit with the RS crew and be a summarizer.

The key skill McDonald deployed when appointing Kendall was HK had been scouting for weeks, watching the current crop, looking for cheapish improvements..... KE sees these players week in week out, I'm sure theres worse people we could put in charge of our decaying abyss of a football team

Not wanting to be argumental but nobody sees them more than Blackie and it's not helping him a great deal to be fair is it?

I'm glad there were no message boards around when we sank pitifully into the old 4th division.
Decaying abyss indeed...

Id wouldnt mind Edwards BUT I dont think he has the bottle to put his money where his mouth is. He prefers to waffle and tell every manager we have how its done on Rad Sheff.

Gary speed.

That is all.

so its speeds fault? or you suggest speed takes over? if its the former, then HUHHH? if its the latter, i remember thinking all the good work of 02-03 was down to blackwell. in hindsight....

I'd rather we appointed Adrian Heath or Brian Robson, I really would.

I think I can count the number of times I've agreed entirely with his assessment of a match I've just seen with my own eyes on one hand.

Fuck it, lets get TC.....

Perhaps its you that is wrong then ;)

Foxy
If your eyes are on your hand........perhaps a visit to a doctor is in order :-)

It really, really isn't :) It's impossible to be wrong about things that are factual. I may have a different opinion than him, but even simple facts on what happened we usually disagree on :)

I know he's a ex-pro, but there is a reason why he's on Radio Sheffield and spends the rest of his time playing golf :D
