I agree. I think injecting a bit of fresh meat/ thinking/ attitude there might do the rest of the team the world of good too. I love the team, but its a touch stale at the minute.

I love Bash, he is one of my all time hero‘s but I think we need a change of formation even if it’s for a little a while and Bash is the man who is most perefct suited to the overlapping CB role.. I just feel we need other formations as well and that leaves Bash out for the games we move away from it.

We binned off the formation that took us to two promotions the minute we arrived in the Premier. (Duffy Role?) We shouldnt bin it or players off forever, we move and adapt and be more flexible

I thought Ampadu looked defensively excellent tonight. Leaving Bash out is more to get Bogle in that formation

Bash is by far our most influential player at the moment. Berge’s calm head and simple approach means he stays in the middle for me. Fleck has had too many anonymous games for my liking and the kid Ampadu’s clever feet are wasted at centre back. So my “radical” 11 for Leeds is as follows.

Bash is a tough one to leave out but we certainly need to try something different, the main thing is to not start games on the back foot as though we’re trying to keep it 0-0 for as long as possible, it’s fucking crap to watch just for starters.

We tweaked it. Switching from a back three to a back four is a fundamental overhaul and a huge risk if we haven’t done the work on the training ground.

My problem is our “old guard” in midfield are not carrying the team forward anymore. Norwood our star “quarterback” gives the ball away too much. The box to box man Lundstram just floats around centre circle these days and our tenacious little Scottish maestro Fleck has been largely anonymous. So it may seem a little radical getting the youngsters in, but I’d seriously go with Ampadu, Berge and Osborn in the middle of the park.

Bash is the only player other than the strikers willing to make runs into the box. A team so focused on defending can quite easily forget how to attack.

I agree, the Bash is definitely the first name to go on the team sheet.

He's versatile so there's a few positions he could fill.

Not a bad player to have to build your team selection around.

The team yesterday consisted of 7 regulars from the promotion season, one whi was usually on the bench that season, plus Burke, Ramsdale and Berge.
I think stale is the right word ( possibly including Wilder ?)which has not been helped by the club's transfer policy which has not significantly improved the 1st eleven. You could argue that our incoming transfers have been poor over the last 12/14 months despite significant outlay( by our standards).
The signs of a downturn have been there from there since the beginning of the year.
CW's interviews appear to deflect from the main issues in the team and his slight criticism of the board in last night's post match interview is a worry. He must also take some of the blame as he has brought in alot of players into the club that arent really pushing for a 1st eleven place .
Based on the end of last season and the beginning of this season we are in danger of being in a relegation struggle and with a lack of goals, it will be difficult to recover.

I agree totally about the firepower however, on recruitment, if he needs say, 4 bodies in the house but has only the budget for 1 great player or 4 prospects, how is it CWAK’s fault that the whole team is not up to spec? It IS the board. They have put financial constraints on the team and want a regular Prem team on Championship money. Sometimes there just ain’t enough magic to go round.

We did well for 80 minutes against Wolves with the formation. We played 11 minutes with the formation last night.

Unpopular opinion, but I’d play Osborn over Fleck. Fleck has been a passenger in every game he’s played in since lockdown. Osborn has never let us down and will be combative against that Leeds side.

Amapdu in for Egan. Lowe for Stevens and Norwood for Lundstram.

I agree to a certain extent butWilder has spent the best part of £100mill and the majority if the squad is the team that got us promoted. Out of Freeman,Robinson( both), McBurnie,Mousett ( even before his injury) and Berge(although improving) only one is a guaranteed starter. The two young lads from Derby arent even on the bench.
We keep starting players who are clearly out of form.

We have given new contracts to Sharp and McGoldrick which is be bemusing to say the least .
Remember Wilder says there us no sentiment in football but he shows plenty of it...why else would some players still be starting games when are clearly out of form
We are now playing a negative style if football and rarely look like scoring. Are we tactically struggling?

So yes, I believe Wilder is partly to blame for our poor form during our poor form during 2020. However i do believe he can rectify this.

Whoever plays we need to turn up for the first 10 mins or we'll be 2 goals behind again. Bielsa's team talk is simple "start quickly and we'll get a goal". If we get past the first 10 mins unscathed, you never know, we might have a chance at getting a result.

It's a 'must not lose', however we could do with winning.
