We play them away in the Checkatrade Trophy on the same day as the most controversial American Presidential election in decades. We last played Grimsby away in the cup on September 11th 2001, the day of the infamous terrorist attacks on America.
Is there a link between United playing Grimsby away in the cup and historical events occurring in America?

I remember we had a minute's silence the day Princess Margaret died, it wasn't very well observed!

v Portsmouth. We won 4-3 (Paul Furlong scored 2 for us). Lmaobob 's 2nd match. He cheered when Crouch opened the scoring. Prosinecki was class that day. Hardly ran about but the ball seemed to be stuck to his feet a lot and our players couldnt get near him!

We seem to beat Portsmouth whenever we play them at home, even though they are often the better side!

We beat Millwall 1-0 away on the day I was born 27/11/76 - Alan Woodward grabbing the winner.
GOAL - v Millwall (a) 27.11.76. Hamilton went on a solo run, Hamson took the ball and fed Woodward with a neat square pass and the United skipper hit the ball with the outside of his right foot. Millwall goalkeeper Johns could only stand and watch as this devilish shot curled into the top corner of the net.

Except if that's the 'Johns' Blades know and love well, it takes most of the shine off any goal scored against him.

KK sent off!? What for? Was it very sunny and it was reflecting off his head in an unsportsmanlike way?

We beat Donny in the County Cup on the day John Lennon was shot, on the same day a young up coming band called U2 played a set in New York city.

We lost 3-0 at L***s two days after Martin Luther King was killed.

Those horrible bastards were probably happy with both outcomes.
