Questions for the manager?

It doesnt appear that we've got big money owners like Birmingham but there's few of those around outside of the championship. In fact they're alone really. Barnsley have big money owners but they don't spend owt.
You forgot Disney FC. They will be a PITA this season. Got fed up of hearing Back-to-Back-to-Back lets hope its more Back-to-Back-to-Back-Back down

You think it's pathetic for Sheffield United fans to sing a song about a former Sheffield United player and manager who achieved so much with us? Shall we stop singing songs about Woodward, Currie and Eddie Colquhoun, or about Jack O'Connell and his magic hat, as well?

Would you also like us to tear down Joe Shaw's statue, Jimmy Hagan's bust, all the photos of former players, and all the walls and panels with former players' names on, that people have paid to have personalised bricks on?

Maybe what's really pathetic, is people who call themselves Sheffield United supporters, being completely unable to appreciate what successful former Sheffield United players and managers have done for this club.
Depends if the song is a dig at the new manager or a player doesn’t it? Singing about Wilder to have a go at Selles which let’s be honest it would be, is pathetic.

Fair play to Rob Staton, plenty of the questions he asked, were suggested on here.

Good interview imo and Ruben Selles came across well and very passionate.
His passion looks like it will be shown in different ways than what we have been used to over recent months (refering to 'first love' when talking about his coaching team 😂)

It was a good listen and again, well done Rob Staton for listening to the requests/suggested questions from the fans (something I am critical of him when he!'s on FH, is not listening and just having his own agenda).
Shame they didn’t ask him my question :(

Having a had a look at the squad as it stands (albeit it, not in a match scenario), which positions do you see as strengths and which do you feel need additions?

Also, Thatcher, Mowlam, Widdecombe. Snog, marry, shag.

Completely unrelated to your question, I have become a monk and have taken a vow of celibacy…

It makes sense to go for frees and loans at this early stage. Then if we don’t get in right targets, spend money. No point spending money if we don’t need to.

Exactly, it’s prime ‘free agent’ time, if there are good players out of contract why not focus on getting the best ones we can

Why would singing about a previous manager, be automatically interpreted as having a dig at the current one? I joined in the Jack O'Connell magic hat song, going up Wembley Way, prior to the play off final. I wasn't having a dig at any of our current centre backs, and I doubt anyone else singing it was having a dig at them, either. We were just singing a cheerful song of appreciation for an ex-player we love.

I remember the Eddie Colquhoun barrel of money song being sung repeatedly in our Championship promotion season. It seems unlikely that any of the players occupying Colquhoun, Woodward or Currie's slots took it as a dig, since they spent the season playing well enough to get promoted.

It's possible to show appreciation for past managers and players, without it meaning anything negative or disrespectful to the current ones.

Mate have you read the stuff on here about Wilder & Selles, of course it’d be used as a weapon against Selles. Singing about the previous manager is not the same as singing about old players and I don’t believe for one moment you can’t see that.

To be honest, I've tried to avoid reading any Wilder Vs Selles rhetoric, as it would probably just irritate me, and not benefit or enlighten me in any way.

I still believe it's possible to appreciate CW and what he's done for the club, whilst being fully on board with backing the new manager - because that's my stance. I've made no secret of the fact that I wanted Wilder to stay, nor that I'm unhappy with the board's decision to replace him, nor have I hidden my concerns about their choice of replacement. But now that his replacement is in post, of course I'm going to back him because I want United to do well, and I genuinely think that most people unhappy with Wilder's departure will have that stance. Maybe that's naïve of me, but that's what I believe, because I don't believe any genuine Sheffield United supporter will be wanting us to fail just to prove a point.

The only other thing I would say, is that if there is any singing about Wilder to make a point, rather than just in appreciation of him, the point being made will be aimed at the board and their decision to appoint a new manager, and not at the new manager himself. I think that's what @ I should Coco was saying in post 103, so it wouldn't be "used as a weapon against Selles", but rather as a weapon against the board and their decision, should any such singing occur, imo.

I think we’ll have to agree to disagree. Imagine you’re Selles and hearing it are you going to think oh it’s alright it’s the board not me, how does that help the team too?
In years to come fine but it’s too raw niw

Maybe sing a song about the board rather than using Wilders name. We know it will happen though and we know the outcome in the stands.

If it happens early on in the season it will be pathetic.

It's a bit like dating a woman who has a son, and within 20 minutes of meeting the kid, he starts shouting at his mum, saying he wants the old bloke back and he liked her previous boyfriend more. Not to hurt your feelings of course, but to voice his displeasure towards his mum........

I would imagine the nobheads singing it would get roundly booed. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a bit of fisticuffs too.
