I must admit, I have some faith in alot of our squad's quality for this level.
Perhaps this is not as warranted given last season but I don't feel you turn into a bad player if you are part of a team that has a bad season.

If we were still under Wilder, IF he had rejuvenated the squad in the summer got their confidence back then we kind of know how we may play and know what to expect from players if it went well.

Slav is his own man, and he's going to change things a bit and this isn't a bad thing. But as with any manager some players may really flourish who you might not expect too and others may not potentially. We can't know that yet, although Moussett is possibly showing signs he might do OK under SJ.

Usually though quality bears out for most players unless they really don't fit a system.

As it stands right now I feel that we are not strong enough at the left centre back role should SJ play with 3 at the back with JOCs absence. Something pretty much everyone agree's on.
(Although I must say Jack Robinson actually had a good few games at the end of last season)

When I look around the rest of the park I do see area's that require some fresh impetus and improvement but to go with who we have right this minute (And not discount some of the youngsters) I can't help but feel there should be enough in there to warrant some sort of promotion push. We need a few more though before end of August for sure.

If we bring in Ronaldo Viera and Ben Davies I can't help but think we are certainly improving the squad. Of course should any key players go we then have a void to fill.
Think we are also in need of more defensive signings too now that Jags has gone too.

At this minute lining up like this doesn't feel too bad for this division at this time:
Ramsdale, Baldock/Bogle, Basham, Egan, Robinson, Osborn, Berge, Norwood, Fleck, McGoldrick, Moussett, Brewster.
With subs inc. Freeman, Sharp, RND, McBurnie, Burke, Slater etc.

How we actually play come Saturday will be interesting given our slightly disrupted pre-season and only playing two friendlies but hopefully the players will get enough clicking to start the season off positively. This league is never a walk in the park though and who knows how it will actually transpire in this new era and let's not forget we support Sheffield United too....

I haven’t a clue what to expect.

On paper we have many top quality players (by Championship standards) so it wouldn’t surprise me if we‘re in and around top 2 all season.
However most of the squad were here last season so will still be in the losing cycle and possibly lack confidence.
We’ve also had a less than ideal pre-season due to matches being cancelled or players having covid and needing to isolate.

We’re now amongst the favourites to win the league so how will the players respond to the expectation and pressure?
Think we need to get off to a good start to galvanise the passionate fans and quieten the boo boys.

Still think at least one of berge and ramsdale are going to be sold before the end of the window.

that said if we could improve on Bryan, Jags and Lundstram (not the trickiest task in fairness) our squad will arguable looked at least as strong as the PL.

if we can rebalance our squad and make sure we have some cm, creativity and defenders - we’ll look much healthier than last season mess of left backs and forwards

With 12 players on the pitch we should be pissing it

On paper we have a very good championship squad. We have the best keeper, best striker depth.
As long as we aren’t hungover on last season we should be comfortably top 6.

Keep the squad intact plus a replacement for JOC and I cannot see us not having a great season, it's also the addition of Slav and his backroom crew that really lifts the spirits, obviously luck, injuries come in to play but our squad looks better than anyone else barring possibly WBA, got to be looking forward to a positive season

We do have a good squad, but we also have a really imbalanced squad. For some reason we have more LWB's than centre backs. We basically own one senior specialist centre back and two utility players (admittedly one of which has been awesome).
Midfield is a bit of a muddle too.

The worry is if we were all to name our strongest 11, you'd get 20+ combinations. None of us know what our strongest attacking option is, how to set up our midfield, who to play in both wing back spots. About the only constant will be John Egan at cb and Ramsdale in goal.

We have depth in a lot of areas, but I can't see this being an impressive start. Just too many unknowns and options.

If squad strength was equivalent to erection strength, would it be a semi or painfully curled towards the navel?

We should have a top 4 squad really, and if we can hang on to Rammers and Berge, add a couple more, and I expect us to be in the mix come may.

exactly this, plus a top drawer central midfielder. I’d have liked to have signed a creative midfield player but we still have a very, very good team at this level.

still think 2 more midfielders are needed even if sander stays here we need competition in this area one of the big mistakes from last season

I think that the squad we have now + Slav will be just fine.

Slav: Not afraid to try new approach/tactics.
Slav: Not afraid to use the subs if it’s not working.
Slav: Not afraid to change tactics during a game.
Slav: His tendency for attack minded high press game.

The Players: Mostly have good experience and results at this level. Early Wider buys, like McB and Freeman were bought to fit in with championship style if we got relegated after our first season back in PL.
Any uncertainty felt by players will force them to be positive in their approach, (Fleck and Norwood)

Slav will keep a few youngsters around until his loan deals come through. Good for them, but that’s the same reason good incoming loans are not here yet. Worth waiting for quality?
Keep calm and love the Blades!
