Poor game that we had to resort to time wasting to see out however it's the first win of the season. We'll take that but plenty to improve on.

Resort to wasting time?

Every team in the world time wastes when they are leading by one goal late in the game, especially away from home.

All about the 3 points...Watching on the stream it looked scrappy...didn't look like a pen,but who cares, glad to come out with a win.

Mcgoldrick was blatantly pushed in the back as the cross came in – thought it was a clear penalty from my view on the upper tier.

Time wasting: Fine in the last 5/10 minutes

Not Ok for 45 minutes

If we were just seeing out the game at the end i've no problem with that.

You either watched a different game to the rest of us or just don’t like Bash full stop. I thought he had a very good game

Yep, plays anywhere the manager asks him and first out of the trenches. Not the most gifted player in the team but definitely the one who 100% gives a shit. Every team needs one and he's ours.

Played a lot better today. Passinh linking up far more often and Basham had a very good game. Great stop by relish but Woodburn looks like he's suffering from Donaldsonitis or needs to change his studs.

Fair enough LB,I'll take your account of it being there...had to settle for watching a crap stream.

Summary...

We were on top before slack defending and a good finish put QPR ahead. We were then all over the place for a good few mins till we got back on the ball, Duffy finding a great Freeman run, and delivering well to Sharp.

2nd half we started well, were on top again. Sharp (who had played well but was clearly tiring) went off to utterly embarrassing boos from our end. Immediately McGoldrick was pushed in the box and finished the pen.

After that we managed the game well to conclusion.

It was a good performance, a confidence-boosting one, and we looked much more like our old selves.

Ratings...

Henderson 8/10 – made some really good saves, claimed everything, slowed things down when needed. Good on the ball for short-range stuff. Appalling long distribution - aiming for Clarke and sending towards Sharp or the stand.

Freeman 7/10 – made the goal with a super run and cross. We need more of that from our wingbacks. Otherwise got into good positions. Some uncomfortable moments defensively.

Stevens 6.5/10 – similar game to Freeman, but with a poorer end product. Thought he did better than the Swansea game.

Stearman, Egan, O’Connell 7/10 – got better as the game wore on.

Fleck 7/10 – again, better than the Swansea game, and at times very good. Still getting caught in possession a bit too often for my liking.

Basham 8.5/10 – thought he was excellent throughout. Body on the line for everything, he tackled, he passed, he drove forward with the ball. Wasn’t expecting him to be our best player, but he was.

Duffy 8/10 – good to see him back in, and he had a key influence on the game in releasing Freeman on the goal. Was otherwise his busy self.

Sharp 7/10 – decent game, linked well, pressed high, but tried to do too much on other occasions, had one chance all game and crucially took it.

Clarke 6/10 – not a great game, but not an especially poor one either. Was presented with a glorious gift from a misplaced pass and did nothing with it. Like Sharp, pressed well, but too often his touch let him down or he seemed too slow to react. Forced the keeper into one decent save 2nd half. Almost provided a chance to QPR after being cheaply caught in possession.

Subs
McG – rightly subbed on as Sharp was visibly tiring (a minority of our fans idiotically booed the decision) and immediately won the penalty and the game. Was struggling after one knock and then subbed after another.

Woodburn – subbed on for Duffy but played in a different role (he and McG played slightly behind and either side of Clarke). Had a couple of decent touches to release players, but was also muscled off a couple of times. Helped to conclude the game.

Leonard – came on for McG and was one of his better cameos. V unlucky with a run and shot.

Wilder 10/10 – right XI started, right subs made.
Did you think it was a penalty then, I was surprised when the ref pointed to the spot!

I thought it was a clear push in the back after McGoldrick had already jumped to reach a ball going his way. For me, I thought it was a clear penalty and the ref had absolutely no hesitation either.

Seem to remember Leonard doing the exact same run and shot against QPR at the lane last season

Wilder back to been a genius manager now.

All three of his players brought into today had a hand in the first goal and his sub scored within minutes of coming on - and he won the penalty!

Super Chrissy Wilder

Before today, how long has it been since we came from behind to win a game? Feels like absolutely ages.

After dreadful last 4 days, any win is welcome & just to be off bottom of the league, instead of bottom of the top half. whether it was tactical or player change we looked far better in final third. not so much positive because that was never in question but more effective, we seemed more dangerous. I must be missing something off the ball but i really dont know how Clarke for months now keeps get in starting xi, just keep missing chances. I wouldve kept mcgoldrick. but I dont see him every day in training so I dont know

3 pts is fantastic no doubts I still have my worries about that defence it was better today, not that after boro it could have been anyway worse. stearman was a good addition, was very good last season. we still seems like are dodgy at back with the organsiation look like we could make a mistake at any time. just look at how eze & freeman pace caused panic, as all 4 defenders seem to go to ball
