Morning all,

Punching above your weight was how I viewed your boys before last night. Don’t get me wrong, that’s my view of us too, we’re both doing better than our wildest dreams might have predicted. But I hadn’t seen any of your football prior to last night.

I thought you were a good side. On paper what might read a journeyman front two looked dangerous and well drilled. The marauding centre half - I really liked him, and the gingery blonde lad caused us all sorts of issues... boy was I glad when Wilder made the inexplicable decision to substitute him on about 75 mins.

The game as a spectacle (from your perspective) was ruined by the red card - which lets face it is a red all day long. Sounds like you lost your best midfielder to a horror challenge a couple of weeks back, so a little disappointed to hear the boos from the crowd when Korey was substituted, clearly incapable of walking off himself, we can only hope that it’s a few weeks out and there’s no broken leg. We clearly made the numerical advantage count, although complete credit that it didn’t stop you from causing us all sorts of problems.

8 times out of ten you’d have beaten us playing like that so all due credit. I can certainly see why you don’t draw many games and all respect to Wilder for throwing the kitchen sink at us with his substitutions, it’s evident he’s a gamble or bust kinda guy - which isn’t the worst thing in the world when you compare the difference between 3 points and 1 point and 1 point and no points. Although Wilder does come across as a very bitter man - although given the nature of your defeat I suppose I’m inclined to give the benefit of the doubt to him.

I’ll watch your progress with interest. You’re a good team there and hopefully you’ll take some point off our rivals at the top. I imagine we’ll both be in the playoffs at the end of the season.

Well done, chin up and keep punching above your weight.

Oh, and for anyone still doubting the red...

Great thread title, you patronising wurzel bastard.

Why not go back to your own board and pontificate about our 'journeymen' on there?

Generally I don't mind opposition fans coming on here but your patronising tone misses the point completely.

I apologise for your inability to read. Please re read the opening sentence of my post and try again.

Good assessment mate. I was expecting more from your lot, first half I couldn't believe how powderpuff and lacking in creative edge you were, and then the wonder strike!
At half time when the big lad was being warmed up, I knew you were changing tack as you'd been so much second best ( but still ahead eh! Footballs a funny old game), but I couldn't believe how clumsy he looked even warming up and thought he was on coaching staff or summary, he changed the game by being unbelievably shit, an even funnier game eh!
As for the tackle, its easy to post stills and say, hey, look at that! In real time I thought it was a great win of the ball, maybe a booking in the modern game (I also thought Sordell's leg breaker on Coutts was a fair, honest challenge!). But I'm a product of 1970's football and love a good honest challenge that wins the ball, so I'm just a tackle dinosaur.
All in all we should have put you to bed first half and didn't, I hope you're right about us both in play offs, I have my doubts...

Duric is a little bit like that. He’s there for one purpose only and that’s to go long... an outlet that we needed after what was largely a first half barrage.

Yep, you should have put us to bed, but that’s football. I’m guessing it wasn’t the first or last time you’ll lose a game that you deserved to win.

And I’m pretty confident you’ll be 6th or above come the end of the season. I was genuinely impressed.

Oh, and can we have Duffy?

I'm not a violent man,but I would really like to take a baseball bat to your managers head, what a little shit he is,just like his horrible Dad

Oh, and can we have Duffy?
I thought that was a slightly below average Duffy performance to be honest. Not that he was but he was some way off of his usually high standards.

A few good crosses and decent strikes but lost the ball and misplaced passes far too often.

To answer your question though... no :)

What did he do to offend you?

Was it the bit where he said you were excellent and outplayed us first half?

So a provocative clickbait title is okay if you then patronise us and get the obligatory 'journeymen' in?

I wasted a minute of my life reading it the first time so I won't be going back to give your wonderful insightful prose another go.

Why not go on the Wendy board and congratulate them for being the best club in Sheffield? You'll get more admiring comments on there and they might not even call you a wurzel moron.

It’s what I imagine pinchy to come across like on another board.

I thought Johnson's comments post match were extremely fair, and he took the time to shake every united players hand after the final whistle, I quite like him.

Fair assessment. Blatant red card and a decent performance for no reward.

As for your lot, do you ever use the midfield? I didn't know what style to expect, but surely you didn't get to third by playing that way?

Possibly Duric is the most un football footballer I've seen in ages, made Michael Higdon look like Messi!
Yep, we play gung ho regardless, sometimes it's gonna bite you in the bum.
Duffy, you'll need at least 20 million for our 32 year old lower division journeyman; lol!
Can't understand why some of our brethren are upset at your opening gambit either?

It’s a weird one regards “punching above our weight”.
As a club? Certainly not, we expect the PL sooner or later because of our history.

We’ve spent 60 years in the top flight and 42 years in the 2nd tier.
When in the 2nd tier an amazing statistic is that over 80% of those seasons we’ve finished in the top 10. So historically we expect to be challenging for promotion because in this division invariably we always challenge. However based on the current playing staff then I can understand the “punching above our weight” comment. These lower league players shouldn’t be this good but they consistently play well. In fact with the injured Coutts back we probably have the best passing midfield in this league. We outplayed and comfortably beat Wolves not that long back ago (altho they did have a man deservedly sent off).

Bristol City have only spent 9 seasons in the top flight, much lower gates and are historically a smaller club.
Sheffield United are traditionally a top flight club, whereas Bristol City clearly aren’t
Would be nice to see Bristol City in the top flight, don’t mind seeing a new set of fans enjoying some time in the PL.

Good question.

Last season we were battling relegation. Now you can’t go from serious relegation contenders to promotion hopefuls at the drop of a hat so the poor performances so sneak in from time to time. Last night was one of those - but not as bad as it has been.

On another day you’d see us tearing teams apart. Derby 0-1 up at half time will tell you all about it!

When we get it right I doubt there’s as good a team going forwards as us (except maybe Wolves), but yesterday wasn’t it.

They say it’s the mark of a good team though. Playing poorly and winning.

Patronising twat.
Chin up yersen.

Oh we all read the point of your thread. Sheffield, like Bristol, is a two club city where one bunch of fans has an inexplicable sense of entitlement and the other teams' fans are made up of graduates of The University of Hard knocks. Every night on our pitiful radio station, we get Wendyites who start with "I don't want to talk about Yoo-nited, but..." It's what cunts like you do. Fucking shit-stirrers who haven't changed since your school days.

You looked decent for the first 10 minutes, then after that you were awful. Makes me laugh that you can be above us in the table with that sort of performance. Playing for the draw and time wasting against 10 men for the best part of half an hour.. o_O

Christ you sound like a bitter chap. Why don’t you just take the compliment? I guess it’s because you were so hard done by last night? Guess what? It’s football. Get over it. It’ll happen again and it’ll happen in your favour too.

Being so narky will only end up causing you stress and needlessly shortening your life.

Silly prick.

Fair post mate. I think both teams will be there or there abouts. I don't see Bristol finishing right up there to be honest, but that said, the table says otherwise. Can't believe we lost last night but performance wise I'm chuffed with the game and we'll win more than we lose playing like that.

It was a definite red, no doubt about that. Enjoy the rest of the season. Sorry but I too prefer the Gas! Amazing support from them over the years considering how crap they've been. To be honest, I usually prefer the under dog in every city though, as we have to listen to how amazing Wednesday are, when in fact, we'll end up with a higher average than them this season and probably finish above them too!

The Gas have Goodnight Irene.

All we heard last night was Ole Ole Ole Ole Bristol City.

I know which one I prefer.

Thought Bristol’s back four were very solid and combative and their goalie made a couple of superb saves. Can see Bobby Reid’s goal streak ending soon though, don’t rate him at all.
