Project Restart - Hoping for 8th June

Germany have just recorded their biggest intake of new cases and deaths for over a week today. Maybe not as clear cut as Ms Merkel says?

Any team that some out to Status Quo and has the majority of the fans playing air guitars along with it gets my vote... or had I had too much of the local fire water that day in the unpronounceable town with crap pubs?

Am I missing something? If you immediately relegate the bottom six, then they're relegated. So, how do you play the rest of the 2019/20 season if relegation is already decided? And, if you can't play 2019/20 games, revenue dries up & you can't pay players & buy McCabe out. How does offering immediate relegation to the bottom six help?

The clue could be in the word "offer"? The league should give the bottom 6 a chance to either play out their remaining games or decide which of the bottom six clubs do indeed get relegated. simples, play or bottle it and have a chance of relegation.

Sorry pal I can't offer any reason, just checked the numbers on worldometer

I'm struggling to work out what the fuck is going on, what are the Germans doing right, is it just misdiagnosed, what the fuck?
Same as everyone else then

Exactly, you can't keep going with new proposals relying on a majority 14/6 vote, that will go on forever. There has to be a deciding factor. For me it's you all play the season out at neutral venues where relegation, european spots are decided ot we go to PPG. Take your pick.

this article is about concerts & nightclubs. but theres very little difference to that football all other sporting events. worryingly til a vaccine it might have to come to wearing 1 of these if they ever get past the prototype stage. to be allowed to avoid the social distancing at grounds youve got to look like a knock off Thunderbird

TBH Bruce, that complete and utter pri@k from Aston Villa mad me laugh today, quoting a potential £200mm loss, don't pay stupid wages and try and buy a new starting 11 then kno@hea@!

Even Dean Smith giving it the sob storey about potentially two players not being available, he is another complete pr@ck.

It's a shit situation I get that, but it's a lot shittier for EFL clubs, especially the smaller ones so get on with it.

Thank god for Chris Wilder.

Why not offer that to the bottom 20? I still don't see how your suggestion helps the clubs. The Premier League is the 20 Clubs, they vote on proposals

Always had a soft spot for kaiserslautern fc, can't think why just seem to remember them dumping some "massive" team out of Europe.
Don't even think they are in Germany's Top league anymore.

They're in the third now actually. Shit town, nice ground, shame it's at the top of a huge hill

Russia is the best. (at lying)

I think what is clear from the recent government noises and what might be announced over the weekend, that the original 'smoothing the curve' is still the aim, to ensure the NHS can cope with the numbers.

It's not about totally eradicating the virus or trying to ensure there is no transmission at all - if we try and do that then we'd continue lockdown for many more months, the economy (and football) is finished.

A lot of the stumbling blocks put forward to stop or delay football behind closed doors can be mitigated because we're not aiming aiming at virus eradication, but will use sensible precautions to keep the footballers and staff involved as a contained group who are at low risk of dying from the virus.

Football will have the same shielding process we'll see for other workplaces, so if you're a footballer living with or in close contact to a person in a vulnerable group, then testing processes will be the key. If testing is not up to scratch, then I can see this being the biggest barrier to getting the re-start done. The Bundesliga is re-starting, but Germany's testing / shielding / tracing is significantly ahead of ours.

I do wonder though about vulnerable groups within the set-up, consider some of the older managers like Roy Hodgson.

SC Freiburg is the one.

Mid table, but play nice football with a good innovative manager - Christian Streich.

A superb young CB/defensive mid called Robin Koch. Young Luca Waldschmidt up front is a bit useful as well, alongside their old fox version of Billy - Nils Petersen.

Generally play in an ok red and black design, sometimes some white, so can relate a bit to that.

Lovely part of the country if you get hooked and want to visit later on as well.

One of the many rumours about SUFC Pre Season 2019-20 was a game at Union Berlin. (As you'll recall, we ended up in Faro & Reims). I did a bit of research on Union Berlin at the time. A fascinating history. As they're an East Berlin club. 2019-20 is their first season in Bundesliga 1. Having been in Bundesliga 3 as recently as 2008/09. In that 2008 season, they decided they had little choice but to upgrade their Stadion An Der Alten Försterei. However, financially, they hadn't a pot to piss in. So, the Union fans simply built the ground themselves. Two thousand of 'em. Chucking in 140,000 working hours. It holds 22k. But only 3.6k are seats.
As it happens the Carrier Bag Firm have been on SUFC Pre Season in Germany. v TUS Celle, TSV Havelse & TSV Friesen. None of those anywhere near the Bundesliga I'm afraid.
