the 6 bottom clubs coming up with wimp like excuses not to play

oooh cant play behind closed doors

so wont be playing in September then when its still behind closed doors

as for the likes of Brightons Glenn Murray0, I'm honestly scared, playing in masks tell you we shouldn't play

80 k a week and no balls
he should give an asda check out girl 20 k and ask her to show him the courage to come face to face with people is done

2 hours on a pitch with 24 others is not like 8 hours serving 2000 people is it

Brighton are waging a propaganda war
They are one of the six bottom clubs who are shitting it of going down they obviously just wheeled out Murray as part of that .he is the fourth representative of the club I've heard with four different reasons to end ( null and void )the season now

I'm sure sky, bt and other broadcasters wouldn't pay for glorified processional football.

Thing is if we were bottom 6 you could bet Wilder would be saying bring it on.
wed battle to stay up

no namby pamby oooh I might get poorly and need me mam in our squad

80k to 100k a week players not prepared to play for 2 hours when bus drivers go out there , when shop assistants on 8 quid a hour have the bottle to face it

they get medical treatment above and beyond mere mortals and they use this as an excuse,,shame on them

I don't think they are genuinely scared ,not for their health anyway .more likely the chance of losing 80-100 k wages you speak of

Well quite.

Champions already decided bar the shouting.
CL placings hardly the greatest draw at the best of times, even less so when this season's competition isn't anywhere done (and no one know what the position is with City)
Relegation was the biggest story left. Without that, and in empty stadia, what's the spectacle?

Exactly. They’re not actually scared. Anyone else think if this goes ahead behind closed doors then we’re Champions League??! Assuming City still banned. If anyone gets the players dialled into this with full intensity and no excuses it’s Wilder. We’re not bad away from home....

The bottom 6 clubs are obviously going to block anything that gives them the chance of relegation. The PL should be seeking legal advice now, then put it to them that if they collectively stop the league from finishing then the policy would be to relegate the bottom three. Let's see whether the three teams affected block the start then! Effectively they have been given the opportunity to finish the season and stay up but they have chosen not to. They are doing a job of work and the authorities are putting in place the safest measures possible for them to do their job. Far safer than a carer on minimum wage or a supermarket check out worker, for example. I haven't got a clue about law but surely this would carry some weight.

It's quite simple, state now that the bottom three will be relegated and you can bet your life that the league re-starts!

The bottom 6 aren't thinking things through.
Unless there's a conclusion the prem will not pay final placing payments and clubs will lose TV revenue for 92 unplayef games.
A total of 1.5bn quid shortfall in clubs incomes. On top no douuf will start next season behind closed doors. That's less season ticket sales match day income and no doubt a huge drop in kit sales as no one will go near club shops
The outcome , wages will need to be adjusted as the income no longer supports the huge wages they want

And following on from the 5 sub farce last week, today we now have the shorter halves farce.

Next week: “to guard against expected player availability being reduced, club owners are considering 7-aside games of two 30-minute halves as a means to finish the season”

They are creating a different game here which i'm sure isn't in the rule book either, so another case to take legal action. I can just see Norwich/Villa fans etc saying that the 90 minutes lost cost them a fair chance of staying up.

So footballs version of The 100? What an awful idea....

I'd have some sympathy - playing in empty/neutral stadia does not impact the integrity of the competition (IMO) - playing a completely different form of football for 9/38ths of the season absolutely does...

The fact that its the bottom six clubs who are against a re-start proves irrefutably that this is not about player safety - its about self-interest.

The season has to be finished, at some point - be it now, this summer, this autumn whenever. Football is no longer a sport, its a business - and you can't fudge the outcome anymore because there is too much money at stake.

I'm patient, I'll wait - so will other fans I am sure. But finish what you started football.

I think the only way this season doesn't end up in the courtroom is if all teams agree a way to finish the season and I can't see the bottom six agreeing with each other. Its a real mess and its going to get a whole lot worse.

I keep having the same argument with a bunch of my mates that say scrap this season as next season is the priority with the euros on the horizon.

I say you can't conclude that a season 75% finished is less important than one already started. - "yeah you can cos it's safer". "Contracts, all that shit"
I say the EPL are putting arrangements in place for contracts and there's no evidence to suggest next season will be safter, particularly when you have these fabled second and third spikes.
"well we just cancel again then".

So rather than finish 1 season and get TV cash, they'd rather scrap this season, the tv cash and start a new season which is as likely to not finish as this.

Fucking bonkers some people.
Oh, we're talking Huddersfield, West Ham and Spurs fans here....so not really surprising.

Union leaders saying idiotic things to sound relevant is what they do for a living. Give it a week and he'll suggest relegation is decided by a game of headers and volleys

And for the players..... "as a club we've done everything we can and followed all the guidance to make this safe. People (mainly key workers) all over the country have continued to work wherever possible throughout this and others are now slowly planning to return to work with caution. If you feel genuinely scared or have particular reasons (such as living with a vulnerable person) then we will discuss with you on a case by case and support you in this. No one should be forced against their will and the decision is a deeply personal one. If necessary we'll allow you to take unpaid leave." Come on Glenn Murray, what do you really think!

I know Brighton have an agenda, but a lot of footballers have young families just the same as all of us. Their wage is an irrelevance. If they are concerned that they may catch the virus by being forced to play a game of football then their concerns should be heard. These are unprecedented times. I wouldn't be happy with my employers forcing me to put myself at risk.

Agreed, no one should be forced to play, however, this shouldn't form the basis on whether football returns or not. If it's deemed to be safe to return, the fixtures should take place, if Glen Murray and Sergio Aguero don't want to play then Brighton and Man City will just have to manage without them. Fixtures should go ahead even if teams have to field the kids, I can just see the bottom 6 trying to get the season voided by crying that their entire first team don't want to play.

This is Premier League football, so there will be ways around issues e.g. if a player lives with someone with a medical condition, then the player can just isolate away from the family until the season is completed. But again the player will have the right to refuse to move away from their family if they wish.

Remember villa today said at least 2 players wont be playing again this season
