points vary from year to year wednesday got 5 points less last season than the season before , but were in relegation race up to the last day the season before
we came down with 38 points from the prem Hull stayed up with 31

its about where we finish , we are in the play offs , which realistically is where we should have finished , maybe 1 or 2 places higher you could argue , but winning it , was only an option for the deluded

talking of progress leeds lost 6-0 last season so they must be better

my god this doesn't half grind my gears. Soooo many people on here, including your good self, absolutely slaughtered some of us for suggesting we didn't have the best squad in the division back in September/October/November.

Seriously, we were crucified on here and I can't believe some of the main culprits have the bottle to come on here and say this sort of thing.

We SHOULD have pissed this league (look at Bristol City who finished below us last year) but I knew after the transfer window we wouldn't. Ofcourse, some of you know better and that we supposedly 'weren't proper blades' and 'slashers', whatever else I was called, for realising we hadn't assembled a squad for automatic promotion.

It's so easy to come on forums now and talk about brilliant progress from 7th to 5th and turn it into a positive, but the fact remains we should have won this league and have failed miserably in our attempt. We are garbage pal, and whether we get promoted or not, it doesn't change that fact and that our campaign has been an underwhelming, dull and dour season of mediocre signings and mediocre performances. We shouldn't be in the playoffs, but I'm afraid some of us realised that was our ceiling much earlier than others.

Glad I'm a thick cunt too or is it a single cell ;) Clough points per game ratio is actually less than it was last season, now that sure is progress ............................about 3 million quids worth.

Count me in as one of those whose also a TC.

Our ''progress'' this season as has been stated is MINUS 0.2 points a game,
Last seasons Clough's efforts when equated to this season would have got us 80/81 points.
Last season Brentford went up with 94, this season PNE/MK probably will get 92/ 91.
Consequently the target for automatic promotion is a minimum 2 points a game.
So currently we are a massive 0.45 points a game around a staggering 22 to 24 points off the autos pace!

That is the true scale of underachievement.

Last season 70 points wouldn't have got you into the play-offs let alone 5th., 70points barely ever would qualify for the plays offs
We are only there this season because so many teams have beaten each other and the gap between play-offs and relegation is a mere 18 points, or 0.4 points a game. This is gap probably the lowest total EVER.in L1 history.

Don't get me wrong I'll be cheering us on at the play-offs, but lets not kid ourselves that so far this season is anything like progress.

It all does need putting into the context of these factual statistics. .

BTL, I also heard the 'thick cunt/closet Wednesday fan' on RS and admit that - from afar - to slag off a team that has just secured a place in the play-offs seems bizarre. However. Anybody who has watched us regularly this season knows why. It's tedious. It has no direction. It has no future.

Can I explain what promotion is? Well it's sure more than limping towards the line in the poorest Division Three in memory. It's about winning more than three on the trot. It's about not being ritually humiliated by the likes of Fleetwood, Crewe, Yeovil. What it is about is marching forward with strength and confidence that the higher level awaiting us will not see us come straight back down.

More than Huddersfield in 2012, I can see our magnificent crowd - so worn down over the past months and years - wanting to just get back on the North Circular.

do you watch Chelsea meticulously grind out draws to achieve what they aim for with absolutely no recourse at all to even try and be entertaining

All teams have been suffering nervous displays in this league , yes theres been some right dross swerved up , my only game was the frighteningly dull boxing day lack of extravaganza

but thats not the issue

we have been good occasionally we have collected enough points to be in the play offs

do I want us to entertain , hell yes ,next season in the championship

but just now 3 positive results post seasoon achieved in what ever fashion , the final can be mind numbingly boring , as long as we win it

cant recall too many palace fans moaning after the last minute strike that saved us all from another 30 minutes of utter boredom
if we can do that we can claim to have been brilliant , because we won

Arghhh some football fans drive me up the wall...
We have dropped really far in recent years too the point some fans are happy with the half hearted home performances and just beating a newly promoted team to a playoff place....
god just get us out of this league...

not happy at all with how we perform ,, some games , not every game like some say, and no one allows for the fear factor , hese players are expected to perform , puts great pressure on them
kids make mistakes
look at middlesbrough 3-1 down at fulham claw back to 3-3 then go far too gung ho and lose the point that would have still given them half a hope of automatic , a heinous mistake
a seasons graft blown in a moment of over eagerness
same at the Lane , , the pressure from having large expectant gates weighs heavy , people have to allow for this

Boro knew a draw was of little value, as they had an inferior GD.
.If you analyse it draw or lose Boro would still have been totally reliant on Bournemouth losing one of their remaining 2 games.
By pushing for the win they gave themselves an outside shot of forcing Bournemouth to win their last two games.
Overall I think they we entirely right to play twist instead of stick.

but still better a minute hope than none, they bust
Im amazed people think we are the only club of the 92 capable of losing key games , nay more than likely to
yet birmingham stayed up last season with a fluky draw 3 minutes in to injury time as others lost
occasionally in football it all comes together to produce a set of results to defy the odds

If you base your logic on that we should get ourselves relegated to the Conference then we have a better chance of winning a final. I'm sorry but as much as I will be celebrating if we get promoted if I have to tell my future grandkids I remember winning the league one play off, we really will have gone down the pan.
Well I remember winniung the 4th division and a bloody good day it was too!

yes was best day out so far ,

got to say some performances that season werent that enthralling
remember winning at Northampton , we were absolutely non existant for 85 minutes and were losing 1-0 , and lucky it was that but scored 2 in 3 minutes to win it , daylight robbery

Well, flood-light robbery, since it was a night match.... and one of the worst performances I've ever seen from a United team. The game was terrible, we were terrible, we really did rob 'em that night.

I remember buying a digital watch at a Shell garage before the game for a quid and it didnt last the night
was probably after port vale one boxing day one of our worst performances ever , winning took the edge off it

If you remember, NC didn't start with the Beard this year. We have done pretty well since he arrived, even with the injuries to key players.

We have played 60 games, a week off, will do them all the world of good.

What the hell has Brayford got to do with it we didn't get him until January last season? My god the excuses some people come out with
