Yes Andy Scott scored twice if I remember correctly
Scott scored early on, Rogers made it 2-0, then Whitehouse 3-0, all before HT.

Whitehouse got a 4th early 2nd half and it looked like we would better the 6-0 Spurs game in March.

However, we took the foot off the gas and Chelsea got 2 in the last 5 mins to make it semi respectable.

Also worth mentioning, we were still theoretically in danger of relegation
We'd have gone down had we lost by 7 and Oldham won by 7 or similar.

We had a very good GD for a struggling team. It was -1 going into the Chelsea game and +1 at the end. We lost 18 games but none by more than 2

Millwall next up.

Anyone any recollection of this fixture at The Den?

I wasn’t there for sure. Pretty sure I just bought this from the old John Street Club Shop just for the novelty.

More Millwall…

This one I did attend and abiding memories are of being in a central section as away fans, directly behind the goal, being pelted continuously with coins by Millwall fans on either side. Leaving the ground with a few quid in collected small change and discovering my seat on the coach no longer had a window due to Millwall fans.

The one time I truly thanked my mum for buying me a snorkel parka coat!

Was this our worst result ever?

Ironically the result was the main positive from the match.

For any younger fans during that time, Wednesday were like current day Chelsea, had some really good players playing expansive attacking football whereas we were like current day Millwall, more basic players, but tough to play against, very hard working and organised.

However our players must have have released too much adrenaline before the match because for some reason after about 15 minutes our players looked knackered and on the day Wednesday taught us a lesson and should have won at least 4 or 5-0. Alan Kelly was the man of match with several stunning saves. We also had big Brian Deane up front so always had a chance.

Alan Cork equalised near the end with one of our rare attacks and amazingly the match went into extra time. I remember thinking at the time, we must be fated to win because we’d been outplayed the whole match. As expected Wednesday scored a deserved winner.

We were so poor on the day and never turned up, no energy.

Sheffield United v Portsmouth 29.12.84 | by Sharrowblade

Home to Portsmouth in the 84-85 season.

Can’t remember the match but that’s irrelevant.
I always remember that programme because I’m in the crowd on the cover of match day programme. It’s showing the away game at Oldham from earlier in the 84-85 season.

Instead of going on the away end behind the goal. About 10 of us Blades were stood in the side terracing. We did it quite regularly back then, you just had to make sure you weren’t wearing colours and they’d let you in on the turnstile.

I’m quite tall, 6 foot and stood right at the back near the left hand side of the picture with a light grey jacket on.

Cork equalised just before half time. Should have had a penalty in the last minute of the game when Carlton Palmer handled the ball.
