A simple thread to advise of programmes you may have for sale or just provide memorable match day magazine memories from yesteryear...

If anyone is still looking for a copy of this programme there are some available through the publisher:

What would a copy of the 'Pele U-17 Challenge Tournament' that was held in Sheffield, 2007 be worth?
Teams were Sao Paolo, Sheffield United, FC Porto & Manchester United.
I think it was a full colour eight page programme that covered the full tournament.

The Manchester United no.12 is familiar.

As regards the publisher.
Maybe it was a one-off, but they took ages in delivering a programme that I wanted.
Six weeks after initial payment, then when it did arrive, they sent the wrong programme.
A week later the programme I ordered arrived, in an A4 envelope with no protection
from any bad weather (rain).

Stroke Support shop on the Moor.
Three 06 07 Prem progs for a quid right now. Gerr em in...
Oxfam in Broomhill had a load of 80s programmes and a few Blades books in the other day.

Most notable one in my collection is the tour of Australia in 94. Didn’t go (wonder if anybody on here did?) Picked it up at a programme fair at the lane years ago.

Technically the lowest day ever. Don Givens became the worst kind of Lane legend!

I remember being at the bizarre 4-4 draw at Walsall earlier that season too.

Me too. It was freezing with snow on the floor. We were winning 3-1 before being pegged back to 3-3. Up popped Bobby Hatton to put us in front in the 89th minute. We were still celebrating when they equalised. We were on a side stand split between home and away fans throwing chucks of ice at each other for 90 minutes

I have the boxing day pig program from 79 resplendent with day ticket and token you needed to buy it. I've also , as we used to do in that era, wrote in blue biro the team changes.
I often wonder why I never burnt it.

Sell it quick before we batter the Wendies 6-0 at their sty this season, and the Boxing Day “flash in t’ pan” is confined to history forever.

Back to painful memories. A final away game defeat puts survival out of our own hands.

The subsequent draw in our final home game, with no other result going our way, condemns us to the third tier for the first time ever.

There are other names that are recognisable in the Porto and São Paulo teams but I know they often have similar names. There must be a name shortage in Brazil. There’s an Amorim playing for Porto and a Vinicius Souza playing for São Paulo

Oh, oh... Watford scrapping the production of football programmes...

... many clubs are likely to follow in due course, so your old programmes may become memorabilia collectors' items sooner that you think!

I don't know the stats, but back in the 1980s my perception is more people bought programmes than didn't (maybe that's complete horseshit, but that's my perception).

I think like many printed publications (newspapers, magazines etc), they're on the decline rapidly.

Strange that program is called the Valley
I was at this game ,im sure it was at Upton park
It was at Upton park. A draw. We won the replay I believe.

Maintaing the programme name as The Valley was one part of the coordinated protest campaign demandng a return to SE7.
There were loads of other initiatives too.

Lydon used to visit City Programmes, he was friends with Alan Scholey, who's brother Pete Scholey
was a photographer at Sheffield United. He told us that it was only open on Thursday/Friday nights and
Saturday mornings before they went to Bramall Lane.

He told us about a trip to Swansea City, when a well known United supporter walked a lap of honour around the pitch
as it was his last of the 92. It was a huge loss to lots of people when Alan Scholey passed away Lydon wrote.
Are there any photographs of City Programmes? I believe it was located on Shales Moor or Corporation Street??
There was a fish and chip shop on Commercial Street that they used to visit too.

I do recall that he had a great collection of post war programmes and enamel badges.
