Apparently were looking into possibly selling the current training ground and relocating to new built training facilities "far" better than current ones in the Norton area.

Of course we need to buy the current facilities first...
 
Buy the ground and bring our “place of worship” into the 21st century. Not necessarily bigger.........just better. Get rid of restricted view seats(Kop), better concourse facilities (Kop) etc etc.

How do you build a stand and sell season tickets such that each season ticket holder has a couple of spare seats next to him for if his mate wants to come?
Once you are selling at 80-90% capacity the spaces will be scattered.

I still think there may be some merit in a "hot desking" approach to seating. It's something I mentioned a while ago on here - just an idea - but if we increase the capacity of the stadium at some point in the future I'd like to see it tried out. The idea is that you have your normal season tickets, with a designated seat in the ground, but then you offer fans a reduced price "flexible" season ticket, which effectively means they are guaranteed a seat, but not guaranteed where. This would allow the club flexibility to move some fans to a different part of the ground for certain matches and allow them to increase the availability so that more fans can attend, whilst still maintaining segmentation.

For example, take our away match at Spurs. They have a stadium capacity of 62,214. We were only allowed 3,000 tickets (approx). So, that leaves 59,214 for home fans. But the attendance on the day was a total of 59,781. So...2,433 seats went unfilled/unsold. We could have easily filled those 2,433 seats for that game. But Spurs couldn't have sold them to us as it would have compromised segregation. However, if they had sections of the ground which had "flexible" tickets, they could have moved their own fans from that section to take up other unfilled seats in the ground and increased the overall attendance.

There are some benefits in this I think. It may make having a season ticket more affordable for some people, providing they are willing to relocate seats for some games. It would also increase revenues for the club, make it possible for more visiting fans to get tickets for the game and create a better atmosphere. (And sell more pies!).

I don't know of any club that's doing this, so maybe I should patent the idea, just in case? 🤔
 
At the first home game of season 2020/2021, I want to see the prince with his feet up in the directors box, basking in the adoration of Blades fans, because he gave Wilder 100m summer transfer window war chest.

Where did ya think I got mine from, sod paying 1/2 penny a cube in ya local sweet shop......and as for the hammerite, there is none, it was all bought up 4 years ago by a bloke selling tuna, only just been included in the accounts

Not really a source, he has no ties with anything to do with SUFC, infact he's not even a footy fan!

Definitely need to increase the capacity for me. More fans would rather buy a season ticket than pay £40 a game imo, plus the demand was huge in the summer for a S/T so this backs it up.

People have been on about not having sell outs this season...

Its not the banner that pisses me off, it’s the ‘true blades fans’, who ever put this up thinks they are speaking on behalf of true blades fans, they are not, I wasn’t asked for my opinion, were you?

I actually bore no ill feeling toward Kevin McCabe, until he announced the appeal.

If I were asked for my wording for the banner it would read.

Kevin McCabe, thanks for everything, but you lost, now fuck off.
 
A proper stand on the Kop end and the extra tier on the South Stand, get the capacity up to 40,000+, biggest and best in Yorkshire. As the OP eluded too, bigger capacity ground means we can selling more season tickets at a cheaper price and also charge less on a match day. £46 on the South Stand on Tuesday night, £40 on the Kop, I'd say that was the real reason we didn't quite sell out v City and ditto v WHU.

So we should increase the stadium capacity at huge expense so we can charge less for tickets? If we did that, how would we pay for it? How many years would we have to operate on a reduced budget to cover the costs?
Because I think the comment ‘biggest and best in Yorkshire’ sums up what a lot of Blades want; to have bragging rights over the pigs on attendances. It’s not enough that we’re a league higher than them, miles ahead on and off the pitch, it’s all about having a big ground and the best attendances because that’s what they’ve told us about.
 
My take on stadium expansion / development...
This is exclusive of the Academy, which as we know is the priority.

  • Come up with a long term plan for BDTBL. A design that allows for modernisation & integration with each side of the stadium.
We have always had 'hotch potch' additions that are unsympathetic for other sides of the ground. Eg, part of the hotel impedes a full tier addition to the South Stand. The corner infills on John St... good grief!

  • Build / upgrade / expand incrementally as part if the plan. Prioritise part of an annual / 5 year budget plan to accommodate development, with clauses in parallel with league status. Roll this on until you realise the plan.

Think small time then guess what...
  • Let's think big, realistic, but big. Make the most of this enhanced status and budget while we can. Premier league status is paramount of course, but with that and top notch facilities come more chance of a 'next level' backer.
  • Better corporate facilities for both match day and every day use should be incorporated into the bigger plan.
This shouldn't be pie in the sky stuff for a club of our stature with premier league status and the resources that come with it.

Surely SUFC should be looking to move forward as a club, and with that comes the idea of developing the ground and increasing the fan base. We're currently in a great position on the park, we've got a great boss who's not spending big money at this level, with television throwing obscene amounts of money at premier division clubs then this is the ideal time to develop the stadium and the fan base. And yes most definitely it will gives us bragging rights over the pigs and Leeds being the biggest and best in Yorkshire,
 
Need to get the PA system sorted. Went to Arsenal last week and never realised you are supposed to hear the Stadium announcer.
