There's a huge amount of revisionism on here at the moment about Kev's reign. For most of the time post Warnock he'd been the subject of a huge amount of criticism, much of it justified. He's been regularly accused of taking money out of the club, of planning to sell BL or redevelop it as student flats/offices etc and move us to an out of town stadium, .

He was in talks with the council about moving to the Don Valley Stadium - Fact.

Though if the resulting profit from developing BDTBL resulted in a more successful club would we happy or upset.?

Are you sure? Three of us, one independently, started a rumour to that effect some time ago. Quite a few bought it.

Isn't he developingvthe site now?

I don't want to move from Bramall Lane. Ever.

Al Fayad and Abramovic would be ok by me!

Even if we ended up with a shit statue like this outside our ground ?

Yes, my best friend had a high position in the council and was at the meeting though he only confided in me after his retirement and after I swore a vow of secrecy.

I had my fingers crossed behind my back though. ;)

So if anyone has a secret they wish keeping you know you can rely on me...:D

Still don't know what to feel about it, other than very confused. It's a very strange, convoluted statement. And why now? - why not when all's got resolved?

Anyway, suppose we should be grateful for being "kept in the loop" to this extent. But until it's all resolved & there's a clear path forward, it's very unsettling.

As with my post above Re- moving to the Don Valley, how do people think business men earn the dosh to keep chucking 5/10 million per year into a football club.

KC was only exploring the options, if his intention was to improve 'the club' then fair dues. Had he gone ahead with this proposal you can imagine the abuse/death threats he may have endured.

I have no knowledge as to whether the plan was turned down by the Council or KC.

I don't see the problem with all this. The time was coming for Kevin to move on as he clearly doesn't have the resources to throw at a club that is challenging at the top half of the championship.

I would say after he let Robson loose with the cheque book meant he had even less money to throw at the club.

The Prince might put some cash or he might sell us on to someone with more dollar. The 50/50 ownership was never going to last forever.

The European Champions Cup Winners and have a crappy statue outside the ground or ................................nothing much changing?
Let me think about that one............ :D

How many games does he attend ? Didn't he just drop interest before very easily for a nothing job in Saudi ? Has he ever heard of Broomhill ,Broomhall ,Woodseats or Arbourthorne ,will he care , I really fear for my club going down a road I hoped we would never see.

Oh dear, he doesn't need to be aware of Sheffield's seedier areas to qualify as a capable owner/investor, if that were the prime criteria, every English club would be on the verge of closure due to a lack of financial investment, because they didn't appoint owners who were life lond ST holders, born on the local council estate.

I'd say McCabe has immense resources but enough's enough for his family in particular. I'd guess he stands to lose £50m minimum if it's all crystallised this season, maybe more as property values of football grounds and training facilities don't shoot up in value.

The 'seedier' areas are where our hard-core support has always come from, that's what sheffield united are all about.

Im not trawling through 29 pages but does anybody know who will own the freehold

The rest of us did and we discovered the answer quite a few pages back. Very interesting it was too...

Some lazy sod who can't be arsed to spend 10 minutes reading posts from fellow concerned Blades doesn't really deserve the answer on a plate.

well were into page 30 and no one is any clearer..

Nor can we be as we spend our time on forums not making multi million pound 'investment' deals.. (apologies to anyone who does)

Nor will our thoughts be represented.

Maybe we could form a kickstarter campaign and buy the club ourselves ?

Not sure about that. We have hard-core support all over Sheffield - Dore, Totley, Fulwood all have big Blades support. Similarly the pigs have big support in many of the seedier areas such as Parson Cross. Not that it matters where our fans come from.

The 50 per cent owner of League One side Sheffield United trained as a quantity surveyor before setting up his first property business in his late 20s. He made his fortune from selling his Scarborough property operation to an Australian group in 2007.

McCabe's proceeds from the original sale should have been the £142.7m paid out to his family and trusts in a special dividend in 2007/08. His new company also called Scarborough Group, showed £21.7m net assets in 2014-15. With hefty spending on Sheffield United FC, we value the McCabe family at £97m after tax.

Not really immense resources in todays football world.

I have it on good authority the think Liverpool type investment has had a makeover. Think Chesterfield is the new Liverpool or is that just the thoughts of the shit their pants scared to change posters?

No, that's not a true reflection of what happened.

In 1996 we (including me) were getting a planning proposal together for redevelopment at Bramall Lane - Kevin was in charge of it and at around that time MacDonald stepped aside and McCabe became the owner.

Because we had to speak to the council, about the planning application, the council tried to get us to look at taking over Don Valley Stadium instead . They owned Don Valley and they being useless, thought it could be converted into a viable football stadium. The council were at a loss as to how to make the athletics venue pay and thought (being way behind contemporary thought), that a football pitch could work in the middle of the track and the stand could be extended all around it. As later events proved, the council was embarrassed by the under-used running track & were quite desperate to see more use, and probably hoped they could sell it.

So Kevin McCabe was forced to have his architect 'do a feasibility study' about moving to Don Valley, but it was only a fig leaf, - an architect went to Don Valley to keep up appearances, wrote less than a page of A4 about why it would be pointless to leave Bramall Lane and probably sent it to the planners or may have even mentioned it in a meeting with them .... but it was just paying lip-service to the council's request.

It was a fake 'feasibilty study', Kevin NEVER contemplated leaving Bramall Lane all the design work was about Bramall Lane at the time, the stadium and the hotel.

Now that will have pissed on a few people's chips won't it!

I confusd, everyone appears to be assuming it's Kev that's moving on. It was him that bemoaned the current management model in Monday's Q&A. Kev's a cunning old bugger that's seen off attempts to hand over the 'freehold'.

Having 100% predicted it would kicking off within days of the JTW closing I'm going to speculate again sorry Sean Thornton, no ITK just BladeyMcBladeFace gut feeling.........

Kev's triggered the clause (if one exists) disappointed in HRH investment.

This means HRH has to cough up ££££ or buy out McCabe out hence the statement from the club HRH negotiating to take control.

HRH fails to take control and Kev reclaims the other 50% (HRH get £1 back)

Kev has 100% control and a secret buyer in the wings (think it's stringjunior that can inform us if Chinese Dave is still on the scene)

Kev sells to Chinese and retires to beach in the Bhamas

Sheffield United thrash leeds 3-0

Thank you YHIHF

I like that theory :)

Wonder if it's all bollox tho?

Can KM trigger a clause that's added to the contract that is meant for the other party tho?

I'm also guessing when I say, could B56 actually be itk but making out it's all guesswork?

At a guess...........................yes! :)
